Why does Under Armour use neon trim colours on expensive camo?

The trim is there so everyone will know you went with under armor instead of browning, or nike or lulu lemon. Deer surveyed prefer to be shot by people wearing nice clothes ... It's frustrating but the nice trim makes the clothes appeal to so many more than just your basic gun toting redneck hick hunter types .

UA is like any other manufacturer. You can find UA base layers in normal colours (I have standard army green tshirts I have worn on deployment and base layers I wear out hunting at the end of the deer season). They also make trendy stuff for the wanna be hunters and glamour boys. Just pick the right stuff.

Kinda makes remember a guy i saw at on saturday
the gas station, driving a black rover with nice black rims and a gorgeous tall leggy brunette comes out of the passsenger side,i drive around and smile just as a beast of a guy wearing a tight black under armour shirt gets out and giving me the look of death until i got out of the truck to put gas in.he had to be 5.5 at the most and im a flufy as my daughter call me 270 . He did nt say a word but still looked like steam was coming out of his ears as i smiled at the pretty brunette. definatly i cant wear underarmour.

My wife and I were in a store looking at hunting clothing. They had a Under Armour jacket with all the bells and whistles for $450. She asked why they would put neon trim on it. I mix and match my clothing. OD 5.11 TDU pants and a generic woodlands pattern 5 in 1 jacket that cost $70. It works well for me. I hunt waterfowl, turkey, deer, bear, coyote, and small game. The eye is attracted to movement. You can be out there wearing head to toe blaze orange. If you stand still many animals will come right up on you.

Simply because most people who but that actually have no ability or intention to use it in the bush for its intended purposes.

Hunting Camo is a fashion statement now.

I have a set of this stuff I have used for 2 seasons and I find it decently functional. I actually chose the trim for high visibility for other people who may be hunting the same areas I hunt, after being looked at through a scope.

I have not found that animals find me any more visible and I believe in the school of thought that so long as the human silhouette is broken up against the background, the camo has done its job. I sometimes hunt in jeans, a tan/brown jacket and wear deerskin gloves also, so I guess I don't place as much of an importance on camo as some.

I'll wear this set for the next few weekends in northern Alberta in case I can get a field shot of my mall ninja activities ;)

Not to hijack the thread here but most of the much older experienced guys up here in the valley who have been hunting for up to 40+ years who bring back freezer fulls of deer and moose every season for their families hunt in blue jeans and a red checkered jacket.
Maybe it's just me but the whole full body camo suits seem like nothing more than a money grab gimmick.
But what do I know!

While that may give some the impression of a seasoned hunter, there's not much good about blue jeans and hunting. They're neither warm nor remotely water resistant. Many seem to forget that they're woven cotton, which is largely known as being terrible for most hunting conditions.
The new synthetic fabrics are much better and wool is great as well, provided you can handle the itch...........I can't, so it's synthetics for me.

Whenever you see that stuff, it's never dirty eh?

Hunting, hiking, fishing, camping, etc, it's all function over fashion and those who seem to have it backwards aren't usually the most experienced in the backwoods. It's all a rather moot point anyways once you throw on your designated minimum of orange.

I like that point about the Browning symbol being on vehicles and the people not even knowing who he was. At work there are plenty of guys with big f*** off trucks, covered in that sort of thing. And then I pull into the parking lot with my little '97 Ford Escort Station Wagon, and get my balls busted. I just smile and remind them that I can fit as many guns the the back of my car as in the bed of their truck, only mine don't get wet.

Mikes Guide to Buying and using Hunting camo( not to be taken as actual advice, your results may very)
1)go to Canadian tire or pick out something fancy if you want at cabelas
2) use in bush
3)use it only in the bush
4)don't wear it to the mall it, makes you walking irony cause when you wear it in the bush its invisible, but you wear it in the mall, it has the opposite effect.
5)Non scented soap when washing or just don't wash it if your the grungy lazy type
6) throw some nice pine needles on it during storage for that wintergreen scent, if you do not have access to pine trees go to your local gas station and buy a dozen of the Christmas tree air fresheners and include them with your clothing during storage

1. Its because it matches the trim in people's $60K trucks when they cruise the lease roads during hunting season
2. you can wear it to Cabelas and look kewl
3. you can wear to gun shows
4. you can wear it to dinner so that people know that YOU are an XTREEM hunter!
5. it looks good at gym when you get in shape for getting in an out of your lifted truck during hunting season.

:p

Hello everyone,

I'm new to hunting and I've heard that you may as well get the best stuff up front because it may last decades.

So that's got me looking at the Under Armour scent control stuff, but I don't understand why it has bright neon trim:

102922-167654

I remember from my hunting class that deer may not see orange, which was the trim colour on the last couple years, but still, what about other types of hunting when I won't be wearing a ton of orange?

It's not just about deer, though, I'll also be hunting geese, coyotes, etc.

Can someone please tell me what the science behind this neon yellow/green is?

I'd hate to spend a ton of money for new camo that's ruined by neon stripes.

Under armour is great for regular sports wear but if you are actually looking for the best clothing to last a long time, it's time to stop looking at the UA hunting line. Durability and longevity is not what you'll get out of them, and the scent control is a gimic.

Fork out the extra dough and buy Sitka. Customer service is the best in the industry and the quality of gear is second to none. Once you get over the sticker shock you'll never look at another company for quality gear.
