Why don't anybody want to produce a reliable 1022 25rnd mag?

I guess I am a lucky one. I use a stock 10/22 stainless that I bought about 16 years ago. I use some ugly old Eagle 25's, some BC steel lip, at least one BC plastic lip, and one other well used mag of a brand I forget the name of. Guess what? I don't have trouble. I have the odd jam, but sometimes I haven't been careful when loading them. Plus, I use almost anything for ammo - except Remington el cheapo.

The only alteration to that 10/22 has been the bolt closing function.

I have 5 BC steel lips and 2 Champion steel lips and they all run very well in my SR-22. They did take a couple of outings to get them "broken in" but after that they have run pretty well with most ammo. Today I put abtou 400 rounds thru 4 of the BC mags with some Win Wildcat, a box of Federal and some Win M22. Each mag has had a little squirt of graphite into it when I bught them and have been left loaded with 25 rounds in the safe for the first few weeks I owned them.
SR 22 uses the Nordic Chassis ?

I had issues at first with my BC mags in my stock 10/22, but I left them loaded in my safe for days before and after shooting, did that about 4 times and the springs have lightened up and no more jamming or stovepipes. Also, I only loaded them with 20 rounds for a while but now they can take the full 25 with no issues. Also, my GSG mag runs flawless, sometimes only having issues within the last 3 rounds not wanting to load.

My old Ramline mags have never given me trouble, guess they don't make 'em like they used to. The mags i have are likely older than some of the members here.;)

I've had zero problems with bc plastic or steel lips (4 plastic and 4 steel) or my gsg 110 rounder in my older guns that are are stock, I've been building and using a brand new gun I put a dlask barrel and charging handle, bolt mod and archangel 556 stock on it shot all the mags but the gsg 110 rounder, than I put a volquartsen tg 2000 trigger in it and it will hardly shoot a 25 round bc steel lip (1 is a no go everytime the others are iffy, and still a no go on the gsg) but seems to shoot the 10 round and 25rnd plastic lips fine. Friend has same thing his older 10\22 shoots all the same mags well but his dar .22 is iffy on some (can't remember which ones). Don't know if this helps but sure is frustrating when the old stock guns run better than some newer modded guns with the same mags. And as always the factory mags seem to run zero problems in all the guns mentioned above.

Starting to think it's more the aftermarket. Kits that are the problem, all of the stock rifles seem to run fine with the after Market mags. Anyway I'm doing ok using the plastic lip mags, I'll try a couple of those, see what happens.

BC Steel Lips mags work flawlessly for the most part.... keep them clean, there is a lot of residue that blows back into the mag and eventually they gum up... spray in a good amount of action cleaner and slosh it around and then let it drain out... then fog it with Rem Oil and drain again... leave them hanging upside down overnight, and your good to go...

Most feeding problems do not relate to the magazine but rather fitment of the magazine, which has more to do with the gun/action/stock than it does the mag... you may have to do some filing in the mag well to get the right fitment... you may also have to play with the forward/rearward (rocker) adjustment of the magazine to get it to properly seat for flawless loading... I had one gun that required a forward push on the mags before the first round was loaded... those same mags worked fine without adjustment in other guns. On a couple occasions I have had to shim mags for perfect function... in those cases the mags could only be used on the gun that they were shimmed for... the point is, once you mess with the OEM stock gun (mods, stock changes, chassis etc...) it is YOUR responsibility to get the mags up and running... it is no longer the fault/responsibility of Ruger or the magazine manufacturer... don't worry, you'll get there.

My 10/22 is bone stock, and I'm just not impressed with the BC Steel Lips - 1 or 2 jams per mag guaranteed - or the HC3R - which jammed so often I ended up using them for skeet.

The factory 10 rounders (I have 3 of them) run flawless, as do a pair of GSG 110 round drums.

Once fitted, BC steel lips run flawless for me. I have 10 or 12 of them and have owned over 20. I keep six in a chest rig and get maybe 1 or 2 stovepipes per brick of ammo. File the feed lips until they clear the bolt completely even when tilted front/back/side to side. Fully load them when new and let them sit a few days to set the spring. I've done this so many times I get it right every time taking a brand new one out of the bag and having it run flawless from the first range trip on. It has nothing to do with the stock, other mags are just junk. I've had poor results with BC hotlips, promag, Shooters ridge (now champion) and T.I. BC steel lips and BX10s are the only 10/22 mags that consistently run good for me.

I'll get a couple more of the steel lip mags and try this.

There would be a ton of money to be made if some one could design a reliable 1022 ,25 rnd mag. But all we get is crap, the retailers keep selling and we keep buying. On a side note , anybody who has had good or bad experiences with 1022 mags, you should post it in the 1022 sticky. I've just ordered a h3 stripper clip mag, champion 25 rnd, champion 30 rnd, t125, pro mag , BC hotp lips , and one more ( can't remember the name). ( ####, is this what it takes to find a mag that works, the goddamn gun cost me$1300 and I can't get it to shoot a full 25 rnd mag!) Well I did get through 4 full mags , using the BC plastic lip , maybe that was a fluke. This is the hottest selling .22 right now, it's about time they make a functional 25 rnd mag for it ( that's legal .) :)

Patients ... even the clones are patiented .. each mag has a slight difference to beat the patients, there is only so much you can mess with

I use ti25 .. someone posted they only contact in two places but it is 4 contact points ... takes time to set them up right ( disasemble the rifle is a must ) and they will sing, but only in your rifle .. all 4 screws must make contact to avoid any chatter ..

Saw those H3 mags looked interisting , but the ruger takedown is a semi safe queen, my MK22 gets all my attention, and as I like to tinker, it has always emptied all but one mag ( at first not with winchester ) .. federal bulk 525 is my go to 22lr round for price and performance, rifle , mag and ammo, must be in tune.

I wasn't sure, but a retailer told me they are the same chassis , only stamped diff. Anyway when I compare it to my buddies Ruger SR22 , they look identical .

I've used an even dozen BC Steel Lips mags with three different 10/22 versions (a Carbine in a Tapco stock, a stock Compact, and SR-22) and they've all run flawlessly for me. I tend to stay clear of any rimfire ammo made by Winchester or Remington though, so that probably helps considerably. The SR-22 chassis is made for Ruger by Nordic.
