I read on GlockTalk (key; read, not know first hand) that aftermarket match barrels installed in glocks make the tolerances tighter and have altered their bomb-proof reliability. Failure of some kind 2-3 times every 100 rounds was reported. Has anyone experienced this?

Bought one won't buy again
I bought one in the early nineties it was accurate but not reliable so I traded it. I am sure they have worked the bugs out by now. I see lots of people using them at the range and very few failures now.

I have three Glocks: two G-19's and a G-23. All are 12(6). I have around 47k rounds of lead reloads (about 55k rounds total) through one of my 19's. No problems.
I will be the first to admit that Glocks aren't for everybody. There is a slight difference between the grips on the full size guns and the compacts. The palm swell is about a 1/2" higher on the compacts. The full size ones don't fit my hand well at all.
Titleist, Please ,please, please do not destroy another registerd 12(6) gun by putting a longer barrel on it. Get a new one from Questar.

They are great guns, simple, reliable, relatively inexpensive, and fairly durable. I don't think they are the best at everything, or even anything. But they are better at most things.

That is a statement I can 100% agree with.
The only thing a Glock has going for it which is "the best" has nothing to do with shooting. It is easier to detail strip than any other firearm (not just pistols!). This is a pretty nice feature, but not that crucial.

I owned a Glock 17 for 14 years and recently sold it to fund another purchase. I always thought that it was a great gun. The only things I did not like were:
1-The angle of the grip (pointed too high for me)
2-The plastic mags that did not drop free
3-The original plastic sights
I disagree with all the guys that put ONE gun (wathever brand it is) up on a pedestal. There is not one gun out there that is the absolute best for everybody. Yes, some guns are much better than others but in the end, people should remember that everyone is different. We all have different hands, different styles of shooting and different preferences.
The ONE gun that is the BEST, whether it's a pistol or revolver, is the one that you shoot best with.

I like the G17 I have, because of:
Ease of strip and clean
Never any FTF unless it's my crappy reloads
Ergos are good for me
Has a good weight and balance
Shoots everytime, do not have to worry about decoker and manual safeties
I have had tons of training on it, so now it is like second nature in form and fit
Really, even if a gun is "not a perfect fit" for you, if you put in the time and effort to "know" your gun, it WILL become a greate shooter for you. I had a Sig 226 as my first pistol. I thought it was the cat's meow, and I got pretty good with it. THen I traded it in for the G17, and I could not shoot worth crap on it...UNTIL I spent a few weeks a couple hours a day at a time, unlearning the SIG and learning the Glock. Now, I can hit reactives at 30m all day after a runup, whereas when I first got the G17, I couldn't hit 6" groups at 10m.

I personal like plastic mags over steel mag. They won't deform easily when drop. I have my full load steel mag drop on a metal block and has a deep ding on it. But many other gloack owner said that they had no problem to have their mag drop and I totaly trust.

I will agree that it's probably the easiest semi to strip.
I carry a model 22 .40 cal Glock at work, along with about 1400 of my closest friends. They are idiot proof, easy to feild strip if necessary, easy to get back into the game should you have a stoppage, and they take a beating in the field and just keep working. FYI
I like my 45, but i love my BHP's. At my club, the guys with the glocks 9 & 40 for some reason can not get a group at all, its all over the target. They think they need to keep putting rounds through it to "break" it in first, WTF is that? I'm no sniper, but I'd say my BHP groups with the best of them at my club.
And as for this accessories crap, yeah whatever. Just gotta have that rail mounted laser/flashlight that wont fit into my custom holster. Seriously, how many LEO units actually use those on a pistol?
Find a pistol YOU like and shoot well, funck what anyone else thinks about it. If they dont like it, then they dont have to shoot it. But then they shouldnt cry if you outshoot them.
