I just don't get it.

Why hunt bobcats?

I see on a BC website some guy with a little bobcat he shot.

There aren't even that many of them, they reproduce slowly and there isn't much to eat on them.

I'm surprised there's even a season.

Bobcats a indeed slow to reproduce but they are nowhere near to be an endangered species. Tracking and treeing a Lynx or bobcat is an exciting hunt and the pelts are very nice and worth more than yotes pelts.

maybe you should investigate more,, bobcats and lynx are seldom seen but as far as i know, in the nwt, yukon, alberta, newbrunswick, nova scotia, the populations are very healthy

Someday if I see a momma bobcat and two kits I'll shoot them.

Would make a dandy set of toque and mitts.:D

If something is legal to do who cares?

Pickles, you would shoot two baby bobcats?? WOW...that's a chalenge.......

With a 5 Bobcat per season limit in BC they are far from rare.

Running Bobcat and Lynx with hounds is not much different than running bears or cougars. It is not a type of hunting I personally go for but I would not shame someone else for doing it.

Everyone has different emotional attachments. According to provincial bios there are lots of these animals around. Feelings are a notoriously inaccurate way to make decisions or judge those of others.

in NB we have a tag system for bobcats, about 600 tags a year and you have to be a fur harvester to enter the draw. IIRC, about 400 guys put in a year, so some years you get one tag, some years you get two (they draw for the leftovers after everyone gets one). They are taken for their fur.

I agree with saving the bunnies because of what we see here. One place I hunt here in Ontario for hares has lots of hares every year. Then about this time a year you get the prints of the small cats and no more hares. We keep visiting the area and the cat prints go when the hare prints go. They are very efficient hunters and can hunt way better than me. We also do not have a season unless you are a trapper.

If its LEGAL then emotions have no place in this discussion population control is population control weather we are talking cute and cuddly bobcats or ugly moose.
