Why I hate WTB ads in the EE...

I have had success with finding items (SKS bayonet, random parts etc) and have also sought out WTB ads to sell spare parts I have had laying around to make a few spare dollars and make another member happy.
Honestly, I have been successful far fewer times than I have actually attained what I was searching for with them.
But it's better than nothing at all eh? :D

I HATE it when I put up a WTB ad for something, then some a$$ puts it up for sale and by the time I see it for sale and send a PM, they reply with "sorry, just sold"

BIG FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I got in a habit of searching WTB ads before posting WTS ads.

I've only been here a short while, but I've had awesome luck with wtb ads. Things I don't think I would have found in a million years otherwise, and some very fair deals too.

I've found recently the EE has been really stagnant, not sure if its just because it was a very new and exciting thing a few months ago or if maybe the actual volume of stuff going through there declines this time of year? Sure seems like it though...

I've had a couple of helpful responses by great sellers. Sometimes commercial vendors too.

But what Bart212 says - how often does someone list the very thing in an new WTB about 2 hours after it goes up, with an exhorbitant price. FFFFFUUUUUHHHH indeed.

I think you meant WTS

I've had good response on the few wtb ads i ran, but i ignore them myself. I answered a few wtb ads way back, but always seemed the "buyers" were only interested in distress sale pricing. I only open them by mistake now.

Problem # 1 of the OP's post is easily solved by a bit more hand-eye co-ordination and recognizing the difference between a "B" and an "S". A lot of us can recognize "BS" but have trouble when the letters are separated or by themselves.:)

Problem # 2 is a bit more difficult.

Usually when someone puts a WTB for parts or fairly common items, then there is a good chance that someone will have one and respond.

However, while many people have the common items, many of the WTB posts are for the much more difficult to obtain items, scarce firearms, or there is only one such item in a Collection, so it is not for sale as it would leave a gap in the Seller's collection.

Also, the psychology of someone wanting an item then the price goes up is very real. If someone wants it, then it MUST be worth a LOT of money!

Then there is the factor that postings can quickly go off the current page when a lot of people post WTB or WTS items. On a busy week-end, your Post can go from the top of the page to page two fairly fast, and many people can not be bothered to look past the first page. A post that is a week old hasn't a hope in you know where of really being read.

I certainly recognise BS when i see it. ;)

It's usually 200%-300% of the accepted going rate in the rare cases anyone even bothers to respond. (recent examples include 17, $3500 for a 1941 Portugese K98, [/RANT]

You must have gotten a response from the same guy as I have.
However his asking price was $4000.00.... !!!!!

I will not poste a WTB ad anymore because of all this garbage/people.
