Why I hunt Coyotes

Their population seems to be growing, around the GTA anyway. I've seen a number of them close to and right in the city this year. Just last week while driving along the 401 in Mississauga, I saw some deer wandering across a field, then a buck running with 3 coyotes in chase. I couldn't pull over to watch. Another day, one ran across the road in front of me in an industrial park close to home. Nothing to keep them in check here, so I guess they'll continue to thrive.

Actually just saw one crossing the road in front of my car last night, and a health looking one too!
Seems it got enough food and well insulated shelter in GTA!

bow's? here in on the farms inside of the city limits my crossbow follows me

They're a big problem down here in southwestern Ontario.
Killing deer, livestock and domestic pets.
I've whacked a few at my uncles farm and will not hesitate to shoot them any chance I get!!

We had one two doors down in the front yard a few months ago.

at 150 bucks per pelt is what I got last year on average
Well either you are so full of it...OR you had 3 super nice pelts in and lucked out lol! Cause i had 90ish in last year, the Feb sale averaged $98 with super nice prairie coyotes, not bush yotes nice pale ones! second sale in april $76 average same quality dogs!! Either way a great year for pelts but not one fity average NAH Have to luck out with **SEL to get to $150-$1400 a pelt for the nicest ones sold. Top lot sold for whopping $1400 per pelt Finest 8 pelts in North America

I saw a video of a wolf pack catching up to a lone coyote and when they caught him 4 of the wolves basically pulled it apart, I actually felt sorry for the dam thing!

It's a dog eat dog world and survival of the fittest as they say. Whether people like it or not humans are part of the food chain and hunting and controlling populations is just what we are meant to do,period. Yotes would be hunting and killing us if they had the chance and have done so. So have at em.

I didn't. Pretty dumb coyote to get that close to a wolf kill when the pack is like 100 yards away. I was surprised just how fast the wolves caught the coyote, He lasted a full 3 seconds after that alpha wolf got a hold LOL

That's what Wiley does. No Road Runners in Ontario. In any case, killing predators doesn't increase the deer herd.
"...don't like them doing it in my hunting area..." Isn't your's. It's Wiley's. You're the intruder.

I reckon I better not comment on this thread. Last time I did on a coyote thread I got a suspension from a confused mod.

Give your head a shake duffy, you have never once received a suspension here at CGN. An infraction is not a "suspension" and the last one you received was not for a coyote hunting thread.

I guess it makes for a great story though... Maybe you were thinking of AO where you were actually kicked off of the site never to be allowed back.

Nice try though...

Yea right, that's why after wolves were eliminated from Yellowstone the Elk and Deer herds increased to epic proportions and since the re-introduction of the wolves to "restore" the natural balance the Elk and Deer herds are doing so well, as in no more recruitment of young to sustain the populations and the adult populations are at risk from over predation. With game populations cleaned out the wolves are preying on livestock bordering the park and farmers are losing their shirts in livestock losses!!
Predators have no effect on game populations what so ever. That is why in hundreds of miles of scouting and tramping around out here the only prairie jacks I have seen in 18 months are in town? Used to see them scurrying out everywhere we ever set out years ago working here as a teenager. Same with huns and sharptails too. Had a field last fall we were hunting geese in with a bunch of huns scurrying around in the stubble unaware we were there. Next thing out comes two yotes hunting for the huns, trying to locate them by their peeping. Closest those yotes got to us was 80 yards, too far for a shot with steel 2's but had they come close enough?! Yes they'd have been dispatched quick!!
