In response to the newly arrived Marstar guns thread and Re: Hungry's comment..."Okay, this is getting annoying. Let's get some of you experienced Norc M14 owners who have been to my clinics.... step up and tell these newbies that their rifles are fine after a good TLC cleaning bout!"
I have to tell a short tale! I was born in 1955 (10 years post WW2) and my Dad hand carved two exact Garand M1 shaped guns out of wood with electrical tubing barrels for my brother and I! We had the "coolest guns" in our neighbourhood gang playing war in the local forest. I loved that "gun shape" and never owned a gun my whole life until recently when I got my PAL and bought a Norc M14! I've always hated the look of shiny new rifles and I loved the fact that my Norc was cosmo'd, smelled old, and came from a damp and dingy storage place. It added to the nostalgia!
Now, 2 years later, I'm still loving that gun! LOL Why are they so fun you ask?
1. They're economical and still available as a non-restricted semi-auto Cool!
2. They're easy to pull apart and rugged enough to withstand newbie abuse!
3. They're easy to understand and clinics are available to help you learn more!
4. The enthusiasts you meet as other owners are cool!...and helpful!
5. This website gives you something to look at daily that's interesting!
6. You can start with a basic gun and build it up to whatever you want!
7. They're fun, loud and powerful and can be target or hunting guns!
8. Everyone you show it to wants to hold it and know all about it!
I started out simple...bought the gun and cleaned it up...shot it a bunch of times and LOVED it! Slowly I bought a Walnut stock, a new op rod guide and spring, a USGI Bayo lug flash hider...every month another "little something"...and the sky's the limit!
So to finish, You could give me one in a tub of cosmo and mould and I'd still love it! Because once you own one...You'll buy another! I know because I DID!
