Why is bear so underrated?

This thread is making me really chuffed I didn’t get my bear

Stir fry, ginger bear, philly cheese bear. The possibilities for well done meat are endless

Made some bear maple bacon sausage tonight with a spring bear. Simply fantastic.

Presumably it is your culture that prevents you from using the entire animal? Unencumbered by that cultural bias, I use as much of a bear as I do any game I hunt. I'm not saying it's wrong but I guess the same could be said by anti-hunters....their culture makes hunting anything inapproriate. Again, I'm not saying that's wrong, I just don't fully understand that perspective.

I see how my wording sucks. It is about the relation to the bear, more than it is about any parts that could not be used. Not to change this to a bear defense thread, but that is the only reason I would take down a bear.

that is more a personal choice than cultural. there are some first nations that rely on bears meat: some from polar bear, some brown or grizzly and some from black.

in europe in certain places it is considered a delicacy so for myself it is part of my culture as every year we ate bear in europe and try to continue that legacy here.

Are you Jewish?

Differing native cultures have differing rules amongst themselves. When I lived in South Saskatchewan local natives whom trapped or deer hunted along the Que Appele River valley, would never ever hunt or even go near a black bear or just avoid its den if known.
Whereas in the north it's a different set of rules. In metis settlements northern Alberta, black bear is considered a delicacy and definitely on the menu.

bears are feeding on bears that is a given will it be: brown, grizlly, black or polar.

yup this is true..... I watched a documentary on bears and notably grizzly bears that break hibernation or barely hibernate at all. They spend their winters hunting hibernating black bears by digging them out of their dens.

And I'd be feeling slightly inadequate if this wasn't a bear thread ;) . Nice set up! That's serious equipment!

the set up isn't mine but I do have access to the equipment and the expert sausage maker that owns it hehehe he's a good friend of mine.

Maybe my sarcasm didn't come through as intended with my post, but just so you know, you don't need to tell me this.:d:d:d I would just assume the likelihood of a bear attacking a bear to eat it would increase depending on the size difference between the two. As 45ACPKING mentions, I've seen a video of a grizzly digging up a den and grabbing a young bear.

Ah OK, that makes sense. I respect that and thank you for the explanation.
