For range plinking I use quality Federal AE 9mm & .45 ACP ...or my Fav Winchester USA FMJ
For a hunter or precision shooter quality Match grade ammo is a MUST. Cant be banging off 150 gr ball for your .308 bolt gun when you should be shooting Federal Gold Metal Match 168/175 gr BTHP .....same with Hornady.
I bought some premium Hornady TAP .45 Auto +P 230 gr JHP running @ 950 fps ....rainy day ammo, not for banging off 500 rounds plinking at the range.....use cheaper quality factory FMJ ammo.
With my Remington 700 Tactical .223 Rem is use Hornady Superformace 75 gr BTHP Match while shooting 200 yards. I'm not gonna be using 55 gr FMJ
If you need that shot to count, like a serious hunter or competition shooter.....buy quality Hornady/Federal/Lapua/etc. for plinking at the range, cheaper quality ball ammo.
