Why is it so hard to find CCI standard velocity???

It's been widely unavailable for 2 years now at the distributor level. What little CCI Standard Velocity we've managed to get we have sold directly to our local clubs and leagues. We're not the only company in this position. Thankfully it seems to be getting better in the past couple of months.

I wonder how long these supply chain problems will last. Covid really messed it up.

Tenda $519 + GST +$20 shipping to me. + insurance add $5.05 free shipping option also? Shows $551 to me all in.

Gun dealer (know nothing about them) $45 for 500 5000 548 all in.

YES not local but the best deals are not "buy local" in BC...definitely not. most of the time

You can try talking to Reliable Gun and see what they can do on the price. They are great, and doing a lot for local youth with their ‘First Day at the Range’ events. Our club recently did an event with them and lots of kids got to try shooting for free. Even if you pay a bit more than you’d like, your support is going to a good place.

I've had no issues buying CCI SV 5000rd from the Gun Dealer. even with shipping to BC it was the best deal.

Also, the guys at International shooting supplies (nearest store to me), were open to price match, but for out of province price match, they would take into account the price + shipping cost.

PS: I noticed a difference in consistency between the carton and plastic package.. I'm sure those were different lots, but the plastic ones were more consistent with tighter groups

Thank you Eugene,
A discussion at Rimfire Central explains the superior quality of the plastic trays versus the paper boxes.
The plastic trays are from the CCI plant in Idaho.
The paper boxes are made under contract by Federal in Nebraska.
These paper box products are very similar to the Hornady branded product and offered no advantage.

Blazer .22LR ammo is said to be made by CCI and by Federal in two locations, one in Minnesota, the other in Idaho.

Perhaps CCI SV is also made in two different sites. It's certainly made in Lewiston, Idaho, as is shown in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rCZHG_eEak

There are many older threads on RFC about the paper vs plastic packaged CCI SV. Below are a few for anyone interested in reading. Posters generally don't seem to see a significant difference between the paper and plastic packaged ammo.

I have been doing a lot of ammo testing with "affordable" ammo, and my recent experience is just the oposite. I am using both a CZ 452 Lux and a Brno Mod 4.

My experience is as follows; all of the various brands, remington different federals, some random boxes of RWS i have kicking around, Aguilla, Winchester etc. etc, etc. Some are better than others, but all fall short when compared to both paper and plastic box CCI SV.

When I put plastic against paper box CCI STD, the paper box gives me about a .15 average smaller groups at 20 yards from a bench rest with the 452, and about .10 tighter from the Mod 4.

I did put both these up against Norma's Tac 22, and am getting consistently tighter groups with the Norma stuff but only slightly better; about .05-.1 better depending on the day.(likely me) LOL.

Tenda's price at $16.99 for Plastic boxes is steep - local BP has 'em for $14.99. Still a fair amount avail.
Does anyone have Recently purchased ammo 50-yard accuracy test of 'plastic box' vs 'paper box' ? My 'paper box' stuff is 3-4 years old. Still worked this Spring.

Spectre Ballistics has the paper box CCI Standard Velocity made in Idaho for $506.99 on sale ATM just sayin. Thats for a case of 5000
