Why is my Maverick shotgun not cycling properly?

A customer brought his pump shotgun in the shop complaining it wouldn't cycle properly.

Holy crap!!! Pictures speak lowder than words. Motor oil mixed with sand, spruce needles and Labrador tea leaves. Makes you wonder how people expect guns to work and even be safe when maintained like this?

You should be happy.
no broken parts, maybe an hour to clean up.
Easy money. That being said; it's a Maverick. I guess you would need a dozen or so fools like this one to walk in every week.
Bread & butter money.

Awesome pic! Say what you want about the guy, but it looks like he was having an awesome time, in order to do that.

Kinda jealous over here, haha!

I acquired a near new Belgian browning Auto 5 under similar circumstances. Buddy brought it to me complaining 'this piece of garbage has only been used on two shoots and wont fire more than the first round now". Took me a few days to get to it but finally stripped er down and discovered a bunch of barley cornels(some ponded into flour) between the bolt & bolt stop frame. Phoned the guy up to tell him his gun was ready...his reply "I don't want that piece of sh!t again and first guy that you know that will give me $200 will own it....I used that shotgun for 25 yrs.
