Hey just got my new 870P Max in mail to day from Wolverine, awsome service by the way, and noticed while it has the Wilson Ghost ring sights, the receiver isn't drilled and tapped for a top rail, like my 870 tactical I sold a while back. Anyone else with a 870P Max that's receiver isn't drilled and tapped?

The 870P Max is aimed at the professional LE/Mil market. I cannot think of a serious end user that mounts an optic on a shotgun. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I haven't seen it. Most of these end users employ armourers, so adding a rail wouldn't be a big issue if desired.

The 870 Tactical is marketed to the civilian tacticool crowd who like to add crap to a shotgun because they think it looks cool.

Pmax

PMAX are not drilled and tapped for rail. If you want a rail on yours, best solution is to mount a Messa Tactical rail that interfaces with the takedown pins (pins that hold the trigger mech in place). They come in a wide variety of configs and are rock solid.

Ummmm....many LE/Mil end users mount MRD`s on their room brooms by the way!

The 870 MCS that I just bought comes with the rail.... ya shoulda bought that one....lol

Didn't say they didn't, said that I haven't seen it. I can tell you in no uncertain terms that no standard issue shotgun in use with a regular CF unit has MRDs mounted on them.

I think you'll find similar with LEOs. Certain specialist units may do so, but it's far from the norm.

Again, most likely specialist users. The US military doesn't use the 870s except for some MCS, which we know have the rail. Unless of course you're talking about the old 870s still in use by the Navy. Most don't even have front sights, let alone an MRD.
