Why is my Oprod guide so big?

Well I just started parting out my M14S, so I removed the Marstar Aluminum stock (Now for Sale) and tried to install my brothers USGI stock, but it wouldn't fit. I didn't understand for the life of me why it wouldn't seat properly until I noticed my oprod guide. Why is it so fat?

The guide on your rifle was designed to be used with that big, oversized goofy stock. If you want to put your rifle in a normal stock, you will need to either change out the guide or hog out the stock in that area!
