why is my power ring hard to turn

i have a leupold vari-x II 3-9x40 and i need 2 hands to go from 3 to 9 and back, any ideas?

Some of the older Leopold's had this problem. Often this is a lubrication issue (by the factory). Contact Korth Group and I believe they can solve this issue. Phil.

I had a few bushnells do that. One I dialed up, then couldnt dial it down without tools. - dan

Is it mounted on a rifle? Is it possible the Rings are over torqued? If there's no physical damage to the tube I'm sure leupold would cover it under warranty.

I had a brand new Leupold that had that exact issue so I sent it in to Korth and they took care of it for me.

it was above zero, +4 i think

it's mounted and i removed the screws for the rear ring and still hard to move

My VXII 2-7x Rimfire scope does the same thing, though it's not a two-handed proposition. If I used it more I suppose it would be a bigger deal.

Had this issue many years ago. Rings were not aligned well and torqued the scope...
Hopefully it's just a Lube issue.

I have a couple scopes with a screw in the adjustment ring. Controls ring tension. Not very common but a few scopes have it. Screw out for less tension.

Had the stiff lube issue on many rings. I just use a couple drops of kerosene or diesel and that usually solves the issue.
