I just bought a used Remington 700 in 6.5 55mm, heavy Shilen barrel, bedded action. Took it to the range today WOW, it was only at 100 yards but I was very impressed. .75 moa all day. I add the 3.5 10 50 leupold on it today. I have other long range guns my 7mm Rem sendero is my go to gun. But I cant wait to get this new gun out to 300-500 yards. Why don't I here more on this round ??

Two reasons: wasn't invented in the USA and doesn't say magnum on it.
Fact is it's one of if not the best hunting and target cartridge out there.

Iam not the best shot but I do shoot a bit, this was my first time out with this gun. I should have said Moly barrel and bullets, re-loaded 120 gr Nos, B-tips IMR4350 46gr

i would say bad american propaganda based on bad experience with old krag/M-94 mauser action blowing in the face of some redneck who hot-rod they'r reloads.
And as Stang said: Not made in america...

Still one of my favorite hunting and precision cartridge....I use it in my swedish mauser m-96 and m-38 with great results.
I have killed my first bull Moose last year with my friend custom sako feed by Standard remington 140 core lock . Those shoot just at 5/8inch at 100 yards with he's rifle.

I just start reloading for my mausers with RL-22, lapua case and 140 gr berger VLD and Hybrid VLD(i am going to test those for heavy hide hog to see if they act as FMJ).
For now my load are still in test phase

As others have said, an excellent cartridge with a long history. Won't see too much of it in matches as the 6.5 is an Open category in F-Class and there are better options than the 55mm case if you are looking to use that projectile.

Love this cartridge as well. Still impresses me every time I take my old Krico out to our range. Had it out today at 920m. Just mounted up a vintage Bausch & Lomb fixed 10x on it with some rings I had kicking around. Will buy some lower ones when I have the chance. As stated by Kevin9934 RL-22 and Berger VLD's are a great combination and the pet load for the rifle pictured as well.

After a suggetion of Sean from NS barrel, my custom rifle wont be barrel in 308 but in 6.5 Creedmoor ( my choice betwen 6.5X47...260 and 6.5 Creedmoor)... JP.

I kinda wish I had gone with the 6.5x55 instead of the 260rem, a few more grains wouldn't hurt.

The 6.5x55 is 120 years old, you might as well be shooting a black powder gun:p Seriously now, in a modern action the 6.5x55 only give up something like 100 FPS compared to some of the 6.5 hot rods like the 6.5-.284. I know of at least one shooter that built an F-O rifle in 6.5X55.

In Ontario we allow the 6.5x55 Tikka's in the F(M) Factory class as long as the rifle is a full factory rifle.

6.5x55 was used for 300m competition for a long time, the longer bullets are very accurate out of a lot of rifles , it was limited by some of the older weaker actions so loading data is on the conservative side for modern guns I have a sako in 6.5x55 and it is a great gun that I am very happy with .

It is a fantastic round and immensely popular in Europe. Long range F-Class target shooters do use it and with very good results.

I think it is not more popular for competition or hunting because the bolt face is not the same as a 308. The bolt face is slightly larger so the action would not interchange so well with the large number of calibers that a 308 bolt face does. In that sense it is less versatile. Other than that it is a great round and well known for it's accuracy and perfect for North American hunting.

You hear lots about a 140 Berger at ~2750fps. Irrelevant what the headstamp says. 6.5X47, 6.5cm, 260rem, 6.5x55 all do the same thing.
