Why is the EE Private?

I just signed up on GunNutz. Why is the EE private and I'm not allowed into the forums until I ask for permission?

Actually, I think CGN admins could make it even "safer", by requiring mandatory post counts - i.e. you need a minimum of 50 posts or something like that before you can access the EE. There are quite a few other forums that I visit that have this policy and it does weed out potential scammers or those that may have other agendas in getting access to the EE.

Yes, but.

I know people on here personally who have minimal post counts but a ginormous trader rating. They're not big talkers...

50 posts is nothing to a committed collectivist with no job.

Requiring larger post counts to use EE would encourage useless posts, there is enough of that already.
