Why is the prices on everything going nutz?

Globalism has become obvious in its failings. That's the bottom line.

I keep thinking back to the anti-Globalization protests from way back when, and how much those protestors looked just like Antifa today. I remember taking the side of the riot cops by default, as the images on the news of these protesters made them look like absolute junky scum. I never looked into the issue myself, but trusted the images and the content of the media I was consuming.

Globalism turned out to be a con and a jack..

So now here we are with these anti-fascist protests, where the videos and images of the absolute junky scum protestors, makes me cheer for the riot cops again. I'm not looking into it at all, as I can clearly see and hear and read what's going on, from the massive amount of media I'm consuming...

I am constantly astounded by how the "antifa lefty types" were protesting globalism up until 10 years ago and now apparently they love it.

Would it be safe to say 'milsurps' have doubled in price over the last 3 +/- years? High end stuff (always expensive) not so much but the regular fare.

I'd agree. I watched an auction yesterday where everything went at least 1/2 again what I'd have thought fair. The only good news was that it looks like those pieces I have might actually be worth something. But really?? $1600 plus buyer's fee for a Finnish Mosin?

Another example, one local store wants $71.99 for leverevolution 325 grain ftx ammo, this is a bigger store with buying power,A smaller shop with little buying power is selling the same new stock ammo for $45.99 and making profit on it,we all understand supply and demand ,but that's not it ,there is something very different going on.

I bought a new Sbl from a retailer for $1000 out the door, now they are $1469 plus taxes.everything goes up,but that's a bit more than inflation driving up,the costs .

There is also the hoarding mentality at work here. When folks see a product double in price they think I'd better buy two now in case I need one next year. I am just as guilty as anyone. Two weeks ago I bought 500 rounds of ammo in a size I don't have a gun for because it was a good price for a good brand. I will, one day, get a rifle in this caliber but for now I'm hoarding it.

The same problem exists with other goods!
That means that the issue is driven by:
1) COVID-19 <— major economic disruption
2) US Elections <— panic buying

Canadian dollar barely budged in the last 3-4 years so it has no short term impact on costs.
COVID-19 killed 20% of the economy and disrupted the rest.
US Elections panic buying is now a 4 or 8 year cyclical issue.

Govts around the world are printing money hand over fist. The price of everything physical will increase. There's no two ways about it. They need us poor and dependent in order to have control over us. So they will inflate our wages away and destroy the economy so that employers can't compensate with wage increases. And your small business will fail due to lack of customers when your input costs skyrocket. Welcome to the new reality.

Think I’m going to invest in Rio Tinto. Looks like tin foil consumption is increasing.

A sheet of 7/16 OSB jumped from $17.99 to $39.99 , in just under a month.
2x6x8 $7.99 up to $15.99 .
And they say its gonna get worst lol
All they're doing is making a rod for their own arse,as nobody will be able to afford any new construction.

This is 100% correct! I have been doing a small renovation job at my house and yard for the last 2 months and noticed the exact same thing with the OSB, 2x4 , 2x6s it is jaw dropping

It's because BC has import restrictions on soft wood products and nuked the industry. I doubt anyone else has had the same jump. Last year I was buying OSB in AB for $11 and here it was like $25. 2x4x8' grade 2 were $1.80 vs $4.30. I find it offensive this is the case.

As far as firearms sales goes, I know a lot of mom and pop shops in southern Ontario are doing their best to sell at a reasonable price, but their costs have gone up...significantly in some cases. I see ammo prices are all over the place too, same ammo in different shops and very different pricing, not sure if that is old vs new stock or what it is--makes me glad I am a reloader! I have recently re joined the 45-70 club, too bad I sold all my brass, bullets and dies after my previous venture with this cartridge, now I have to spend almost double to get all the supplies again.

Lumber prices locally are just silly too, like everyone else has said. My son and I are building a small fur shed/work shop in the back yard for his hobbies and passions, I have done a lot of building in the past, and I figured all done, insulated and wired up would be $4000-4500, well we have spent that much already and the electrician hasn't been here and we haven't insulated or put up the interior wall sheeting yet!

Strictly economics. "Printing money" and increasing the deficit eventually leads to runaway inflation. I'm old enough to remember the 70's and 18% and higher mortgage rates. This is how it started.

I'm already seeing prices for used at slightly above MSRP, and because there is no stock, the items sell.

The crazy train is off the rails, sit back and enjoy the ride. Hold onto your stuff and sell for double in about 2 months.
