Why is your SKS is worth SO much??

You do realize this is a surplus rifle... I see "new" is plastered in this thread. These are military surplus rifles... nothing new about them. They were made to shoot corrosive ammo. I shot 400rds of clean and corrosive, cleaned it properly and someone at my range paid what I had paid 2 years before. I lost the taxes. Beautiful stock, shot perfectly (let him shoot it), mint chrome lined bore... sold. Someone got a beautiful rifle.

Norinco unfired SKS for export.

Goodness, that must have been a tough one! You will make it up on the next noob.

Lets face it retailers set the price on everything...used mags ...parts ...and used rifles. Like it or not some people think they have something that is more valuable then it is ...due to a good shooter...rarity...special features. If someone is willing to pay it then that is up to them but I agree the prices on some of these rifles boggles the mind.

I got an unissue, non refurb from westrifle 245$ shipped to my door... Asking more then 150$ for a used non matching forced ###XX SKS is just retarded....

I just can't over this either. What a rip off. I've been looking for a Winchester model 70 Pre-64 to fill a spot in my cabinet and the guys on the EE want $5500 for one. I mean COME ON! These things were priced under $200 brand new! Where do these prices come from? I can get a new one for around $800 from one of the sponsors, WITH WARRANTY. cou:

I know what you guys are trying to get at, but all I hear through most of the posts is a little bird like noise in my ear. "cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap"

I'm thinking of selling a couple of mine. Was going to ask $205 - basically what I paid after taxes. Maybe a small premium for cleaning them. You figure that's too much?

That is the point the OP is asking: why do you expect a new price for a used firearm?

Considering you can buy them everywhere for $200, who even cares what they go for on the EE. I wouldn't even think to look there for an SKS. Heck, maybe I'll pick up another one this weekend and give it to my cat.

I lol'd

Unless they were desperate for cash, why would anyone sell a clean Russian SKS on the EE for 100-150 bucks when it'll take at least 200 to replace it? Seriously - these rifles are good value for the dollar and as stated they are all "used". They have basically bottomed out price-wise and only ratty ones will go cheaper. I've got a really clean '55-'56 Tula, laminated, not franken-pinned and #'s matching that I wouldn't sell for $300. It's a fun, cheap gun to shoot and if I sold it I would just have to replace it. It would not be worth the hassle and it's unlikely that I would find one as nice. IMHO people expecting to buy SKS's off of the EE for less than $150 are either wishful thinkers or excedingly cheap.

A) You have to buy a crate of ammo with it
B) They're Chinese (less collectable than Russian)
C) You pay for expensive shipping across the country

I'd much rather walk into Wanstall's and rummage through their Russian SKS and hand select one, then drive to Budget shooter supply and pick up a crate of ammo IMO

A) You're going to shoot it anyway
B) True
C) Most EE sellers aren't local so you're going to pay for shipping anyway, and if something is wrong, a retailer will take it back, and a private seller may or may not

No need to vent about used prices on EE, some ppl are nutz. Go see Brad at LHRG, selling russian version with bayonette and accessories for $169.

This thread is pointless.

Collectable ruskies sell for 250 plus for the very very nice onces

Non collectable chinese versions sell for 150 in fair condition.

It is what it is.

If you want to sell me your used ruskie for 50 bux because that's all its worth to you then two things will happen. A- You'll prove you're an idiot for selling it for less than its fair market value. B- I'll buy it and make fun of you after for being an idiot.

Point was, for us lower mainland boys at least, I think it makes sense (financially and logistically) to buy local whether from the EE or from a retailer for $200, instead of shipping a 40lb crate of ammo and a 8lb rifle from Ontario...the savings on the rifle is lost in shipping charges, more expensive ammo and wait time IMO

The tapco'd out SKSD's are what confuse me...$500-600ish for an SKS in a synthetic tacticool stock when you can pick up a bnib m305 for $450...

Most people buy refurb russians and take them to the range and shoot the piss out of them. Let me know when these become worth more than $200.

Market value is basically the highest price a willing buyer would pay and a willing seller would accept, both being fully informed. Lots of people have already shelled out over $200 for a Russian refurb at retailers..................a ruskie with 1000rds down the throat with powder residue caked all over the receiver would obviously be a different story...

I dont get this statement, apples to apples please: collectable "very very very nice" ones are not the same thing as run of the mill shot out with corrosive ammo with a few dents in the wood sks's, which would have no chance in replacement from a distributor should there be an issue with it when it arrives in the mail.

And then you tell him to sell you his rifle so that you can call him an idiot.

Laugh2
