Why just Foreign Surplus? Why not new?

Why can't ammo come into the port of Vancouver? Is it a Vancouver rule , provincial , federal or fact ships have to go through or near U.S. waters to get to Vancouver? If it is Vancouver or U.S. problems , the new container unloading facility in Prince Rupert could solve this problem and it might even be a shorter trip from China to Prince Rupert compared to China to Vancouver. Or is it ,if Norinco ammo was ever on the ship the ship can't go into U.S. waters?

Ammo can come into Vancouver, however there has to be a back up port of call should there be a problem in Vancouver. Rupert isn't really online, and most companies are going to want to designate Seattle regardless probably since it's so much closer. And yes, Norinco ammo can't go to the USA.

Perhaps the answer is in country.
Specifically, remanufactured ammo where you trade 1000 fired cases, plus cash, to get 1000 reloaded rounds.
When I used to go to the Puyallup WA gun show, i used to buy a crate of either 9mm or 223 most times.

Only problem with that is brass life and trust.

I don't trust that ammo loaded to SAMMI spec will not have a larger than acceptable number of case seperations using brass not from my gun.

With pistol, I've got no problem using range brass. With .308, I don't want brass from a Norinco.

This is really one of those consumer satisfaction issues.

You can have cheaper ammo but it may take a long time to get.

You can have the ammo right now but it won't be cheap.

But you can't have cheaper ammo right now.

Like most things, cheap, fast, good, and you can only choose 2.

CANUCK223;
Our fearless leaders in Ottawa are now going caliber and load specific for approval.... In other words say brand X is approved for 9mm 115grs, it is not an automatic approval for the 124grs or the 147grs.

Or if most rifle calibers of brand X are approved and they suddenly start making .303 Brit, they start all over at square one....

If packaging changes, you may need approval....

But the big thing in Ottawa is bilingual labeling and packaging.... I won't go there....

ASSYRIAN:
Neither of the above companies sell to the public, General Dynamics which used to be SNC Lavelin, only produce for military and government contracts all over the world.... This I know we sell them their test guns.
You would not beleive their prices....

You still don't get it, in this business you work on deals for the long term....
When you see a new bit of surplus on our site it may be from a deal we started years ago.... Perhaps interupted by a war or two, a government change etc, etc....

You do not buy anything with the hope of Ottawa approving it in the future that would be financial suicide....

John
