Hi everyone

I read a many place that Mini-14 is a piece of s**t

That it cannot group less that 12" at 100yards

and more, and more

Is that all thruth? & if yes what cause that ?

It is also the same thing for Mini-30?

Thanks

Thin mini 14 barrels whip a lot , and the sloppy mag fitting system changes harmonics from shot to shot .

The newer stiffer barrel mini 14's are better.

I have the latest 581 stainless. It's not a tack driver. Mine has the tapered barrel but the trigger is stiff which has more impact on accuracy than the barrel. On a rest, I get 2" groups at 100 yds. That is acceptable for my purpose.

I have an older 196 series Mini and it's not nearly as bad as many people on here say it is. Again, it's no tack driver but its acceptable for its purpose at 100 yards. That purpose being a super fun and incredibly reliable semi-auto. It's one of my favourite guns.

Well right now I'm considering the mini 14 or a beretta CX4 with a non restricted barrel for my next purchase! I am leaning towards the mini with a pistol grip folding stock as it is cheaper and will seem slightly more useful. I already reload both, but damn 9mm is cheap to shoot so its a tuff decision.

"...the same thing for Mini-30?..." Yep. Then throw in Ruger originally using a .308" barrel(since changed) and the excessive price for either version.
Assorted forum reports on the Mini-Target are favourable. Still a lot of money(over a grand with taxes), but they're supposed to shoot far better than a standard Mini.

I had a mini-30 that jammed on the last round for some reason.
Fiddling with the magazine somewhat helped.
Bought an 858 and never looked back.

From what I've heard, the accuracy is a huge issue, newer ones are better but not as good as other .223 rifles you can buy. But the ruger mini 14 is one of the most affordable .223 caliber semi autos you can buy.

You have to remember what the mini-14 is. It isn't a precision rifle, it is a reliable semi-auto plinker/defense rifle. It is a short, light semi that costs about half of what an entry level AR does (except the Norinco's). It is reliable and easy to shoot. Plus they don't inspire fear like the AR does. Also it is the gun that started all this c-68 nonsense, so I own one out of principle.

If you buy one for what it is and expect nothing else, you will be quite happy with it.

:agree:

Mine's an older one (181 series) and I knew going in that she wouldn't be the most accurate gun out there. However, I am quite satisfied, even with all of its limitations.
