Why no 22 WMR/mag love?

What is that?

My hunting buddy and I both love our .22 mags. He has a marlin semi-auto 922 mag? or something like that and I have a Ruger 96 .22 mag. They out shine the .17 cals on bigger animals like coyotes and beavers. During deer season or any big game season in Sask. you are limited to a rimfire for preditors if you don't hold a tag for the game that is open. As always you have to know your limits and so far the .22mag has filled the bill. I got my first .22 mag as a combo cylinder on a ruger single six when I was 20 years old and I have owned some type of .22 mag ever since and thats 30+ years of predator hunting with .22 mag.

I love my single six.

Cost of ammo aside I love my mag, hits harder, sounds better and for me just more fun to shoot. Coyotes hate it though hahaha and the wife likes it also, very important for future investments

Still lots of love for the .22 mag here! Have hunted with one for years and love it. I did buy a .17 HMR to see what all the hype was about. Its a nice round but just doesn't have the punch on bigger critters like larger raccoons and porcupines. So now I'm back to my .22 mag and the .17 stays at my buddies place to explode squirrels for him.

went out shooting gophers today with some friends from work. I had my T-Bolt in 22mag and both of them were shooting 17hmr. They both were amazed at the devastating hits from my 22mag versus the 17 and at the same or farther ranges than they were hitting at . I love this little gun and might just sell my 10/22 for the use its going to see this summer. As an aside I was shooting the winchester 34g supremes and the cci +p rounds.

Jumped from the 22 magnum train onto the 17 hmr train but I'm back on the 22 magnum again .Picked up a Kodiak in 22wmr semi. The 17 hmr just didn't knock them down like I wanted.

For hunting larger rimfire game (groundhogs, feral cats, maybe foxes) the .22Mag far outshines the .17HMR. I enjoy .22lr, .22short, .22Mag, .17HM2 and .17HMR...each shines in a different area.

I would never sell my .22Mag, probably because it took too many years, and too many different guns, to find one that shot as well as this one (Ruger 77/22Mag). Nowadays, with a bigger selection of different loads and a bunch of "premium" light-bullet loadings available, it probably wouldn't be as difficult to find a good one.

I bought a 22 Hornet instead.Sure I have the hassle of reloading it but it is cheaper then a 22Mag is and has a bit more bite to it. If a 22 and a 22mag were the same diameter I would just bore out a old 22 sigle shot and see what happens. But such is not the case.
