Why No Bounty for Coyote's in Ontario?

A better idea IMO would be to declare a year-round open season on coyotes for a period of 12 to 18 months. Probably not enough to really put a dent in the overall coyote population but the province could use the economic stimulus from such an extended hunting season.

No, in my opinion...;)

What would be best is if the fur prices came back to make it worth the time of day to even skin a yote.

4 years ago a decent mid winter killed yote would get $25 to $40 whole frozen unskinned.
A guy could fill the shed. Then make a trip to a trapper or hudderite who paid cash.
Now I hear prices are not even worth the effort.

I helped out on a trap line back around 1979 to 1980.
A good beaver then would fetch $80.00. Now what $20?

Can any body comment on the fur price market?

You are right, trappers would solve the problem ASAP if it was worth while but most are sick of providing predator control for free or a loss.

An Ontario coyote is going to be 1/3-1/2 the price you get for those nice silk bellies you have out west. Our coyotes are like brillo pads compared to the western dogs.(and thats put up, not whole or green)

These are all just my best predictions. (I'm still a newbie at best)

If I average $20 on beaver this year I will be happy. I still need a few more for the quota and bait.

Coons are hardly worth skinning unless you are from Iowa or that area. I guess they have nice clear well furred coons.

Rats might get you $4 and fox $15 and a mink $10.(f**king ranch mink!)

Marten hopefully go well at $65+ but more likely to be $40 or so.

Fisher and otter likely $30 each and thats a crying shame for a nice otter.

The yukon and Alaskan skins look to do better as usual. Trap the best fur, get the best price.

These are just geeneral but you get the drift, not good.
