Why no remington levers?

I hope you are joking. I guess youve never heard of remington model 700 bolt actions? Not to mention they managed to design the model 870 shotgun, which no one can deny as likely the best pump shotgun ever made.
 
All the snarky comments aside about the current state of Remington quality control and design, and then thinking about some of the older pumps, like the model 14's and 141's, I cant even imagine how complicated a lever action designed by Remington back in the 1920's or so would have been.
A lot of these older Remington's were designed by John Pederson, I beleive (correct me if I'm wrong here), and his motto must have been, "if one part will make it work perfectly, just think how good its gonna work if I stick four parts in there instead!":D

Actually I once had a 700 action fail and I didn't get my deer because of it. :mad:
Every time I see the word Remington, I like my Tikka just a little more.;)
 
Must resist temptation to post....same.....pics of Rem 14s......must not......ahhhh!

As stated already, Remington knew the competition would be too much with a 3rd company making a lever gun for the Joe Public. Hence the pump gun firing a cartridge no different in performance than what it's competition used. They were trying to get the crowd who wanted something different than a typical thutty-thutty.

Here ya go boy, here's a rimless thutty thutty.....
