they're no more expensive than any other 308- if you want to play with the so-called big boys, you've got to be prepared to pay the price- for a REAL education, move up to a 338 ; any 338 but the fed;
as to parts being hard to find, i can understand why; we've had "parts people"- people that ACTUALLY MAKE parts here and the community hasn't supported them- they go stateside to save a buck or 2- rooster 33 used to make a great deal, but he's not around anymore- some of his items were actually improvements to the system
I'm curious what kind of accuracy they are getting with the bone stock gun and that bargain ammo.
I have one of the CanAm shorties with an Ultimak Scout rail and a red dot. Awesome bush gun! Love shooting it.
If guys are buying them for the ammo deal what types of guns are they shooting the ammo in? The way I see it so far is you buy one for $500 and can spend double that top make it decent. I've played that game twice already with a norc 780 and a Kel-Tec SU-16. Not doing it again. What other $1500 black .308 ptions are there?
I love my m14. Started reloading for it so I could shoot more, pay less.
I refuse to order from the states for parts (for ANY rifle, if we can't support our Canadian business, mfgs, dealers, we might as well give up our rifles), which makes things hard to find. I'd rather pay a little more for something that puts money into the pockets of fellow Canadians.
if people are unwilling to learn by doing and tuning - sell em, these are not the rifle for you.
as for me - I love being able to work on my own rifle (or anything for that matter), and see results downrange.
there's getting to be the "pay someone else to do it for me" mentality, and I personally hate it.
Sure, you might not do it as well (or right) off the bat, but you can learn, (right Hungry?)
With MFS ammo here is what I got before I started reloading for it.

I just laugh when people complain about any rifle being too expensive to feed. Shooting isn't cheap with the only exceptions to that statement being the SKS and any 22LR. If you're so hard up that you can barely afford to shoot the SKS or a 22LR without breaking the bank, then you have priorities that need revisiting because the hard truth is that you cannot afford to be a gun nut. Sorry, life sucks and it isn't fair but it's not going to change the facts.
That is at 100yds I presume. Just shows they arent that bad at all and they will DO what they were designed to do....HIT A MAN SIZED TARGET AT 3/400 YDS.Too many pple bought the wrong gun if they want to hit cherries at 3 miles.
"what ammo are you using?"
Lapua handloads
There's some guys who point out that a Norinco receiver, which is true to GI spec, is worth the cost alone. After replacing the weaker parts with upgrades, they have a rifle with extra parts left over.
The Americans pay a lot more for Norinco/Polytechs.
