Why so many M14s on the EE?

Lapua makes factory ammo. You make handloads. Using the Lapua name to describe your handloads only serves to make you look like you're trying to show off. Seeing as handloads are generally cheaper than factory I doubt that this is the real turning point for any M14 shooter. Chassis systems and aftermarket stocks are too pricey for most shooters.

I'd love to see a side by side comparison between the JAE, Sage, Bedded Glass Stock and a standard stock usign the same barrelled action. I think it would be interesting.

Well now thats an idea.. I wonder how many pple would want to put there star wars rigs up against a no frills rig.
Ive seen all the reports about improved this and enhanced that etc, but I cant recall ever seeing a shoot off.
Im not knocking anyone for spending big bucks, good luck to ya, but I am curious as to how they would stand up in a side by side shoot off

I'm curious what kind of accuracy they are getting with the bone stock gun and that bargain ammo. I'm guessing 4"-6" groups at 100. You really handicap those guns with low grade ammo, and not many want to spend the money or time to feed decent ammo through it. I was shooting mine last week at 600 yards and it was surprisingly consistent with 168gr smk's.

My bone stock 2007 Norinco shot 2 inches all day erry day with surplus ammo. This was scoped mind you.

Once I started to reload, tighten, and polish the groups got better.

That's exceptional. I've never gotten those sort of groups with surplus ammo. Federal 150grain ammo shoots like that for me though (1.5" groups of 5 at 100 yards), and hand loads even better. It's no tack driver, but its very respectable for a semi auto.

True that! I finally got my shorty to the range today. After 10 shots in the standing postion that s.o.b got heavy fast! I made it through 60 of the 80 rounds I started with. Left the range feeling like I just hit the gym. With only 2 failure to feeds, I can't complain. Most likely my own doing. So needless to say, I'm still looking forward to more trigger time.

I bought a shorty with the combo deal awhile back,..I replaced the stock with a Boyd's walnut stock and replaced a few other parts. I spent less than 200 on up grades and I ended up with a rifle that looks great ...feels great and shoots great...one of the best deals I ever made. and inre: ammo being expensive, it is definitely not out of line as to cost with any of the other large calibers.....I've got well over 40 different rifles in many different calibers and this is one rifle I'm keeping... just my 2 cents...

Funny enough there was a special on the shorties for $399 and meanwhile the EE was full of listings at $450..

There's some simple math to this - there are a lot of M14's on the EE because there are a lot of M14's out there.

Same reason that there are more Sunfires than Range Rovers in the Auto Trader.

Same thing with the SKS listings in the Milsurp EE section, and same reason why probably close to half of the Black Rifle EE section is AR-15 listings.

This, although I've seen it fluctuate and get crazier whenever there's an ammo combo sale on.

Personally I'm happy with mine. Took out the junk rear sights and but in a scope mount from M14.ca (gotta support homegrown products!). Still waiting to take it out to the range though.

Then they get them home, and realize the Norcs are terribly finished, and don't shoot MOA out of the box, not to mention they weigh a ton, and are expensive to shoot.

Then they think OK I will upgrade, and realize that it takes quite a bit of work and money to turn these into nice guns.

So they sell em.

I have owned firearms since 1971, and have had a ton pass through my ownership since then. For 399.00CDN dollars in 2012, is there really a better deal in a fine copy of a great battle rifle.

If someone is so naive that they didn't realize it was made out of steel, and it makes a really loud noise when they squeeze the trigger, that has no reflection on the rifle itself.

10 minutes at the local gun counter and listen to all the experts explaining firearms to their girlfriends is enough for me to realize that even in this information age, 95% of people today got their basic firearms training while playing Call of Duty.

So true I took a buddy out to the range.Hes all geared up and ready to go. Didnt want to wear ear protectors,theyre for girls and when the SHTF ya dont have time to find your ear muffs and goggles.
Ha ha ....first round he almost s--t his pants and grabbed his ear muffs and he soon got fed up carrying the gun and showed no interest at all in cleaning ....These are probably the largest group of sellers right now..And as long as thre is a lot for sale that means theres a good supply of parts out there eh ( At rock bottom prices too )

Like many Norinco's, the fit and finish on these guns is often lacking to say the least.

So someone who may be used to well finished blued guns, decides to buy one of these sight unseen, there is a pretty good chance they will be quite disappointed when they get it.

Me I never buy anything sight unseen, but I have handled and fired several of these guns, and realize that for my tastes this gun just wouldn't satisfy me, unless I was ready to spend some money on a new stock, and new sights, as well as an optic mounting system. That puts me into around $300 in upgrades before even firing the thing.

Just like I have been through with a couple 1911's, the bottom line is these guns will always be Norinco's. Nothing more. You put a whole bunch of work into these guns, and then what?

I don't hate them, but I leave em to be what they are. Cheap guns that function well for the most part.

LOL.... well its the m-14 this time,..soon it will be something else. I remember when Every one HAD to Have a 303. Next it was the JUNGLE Carbine,..then it was the famous 30-30 lever action..lol. These trends come and go and it always will. No matter if its Ruger, Norinco,ECT. People get boared and then its on to the next NEW thing. Nothing wrong with it, Ive been doing it for over 35 years. Supply & demand, ammo prices,..the COOL factor..lots of different factors play into it as well. Nothing new about any of this,..its all happend before

I have not fired or tinkered with mine yet, but can someone confirm if the Norc M14 can maintain reliable battle zero right out of the box at 100-150 yrds? I am new to this hobby, but this is all I ask out of this rifle, which is to be a "battle rifle".

I would say that if you want 'minute of zombie' you can have it. However the sad fact is that the stock sights on the M305 can be dodgy. The thing to do is simply get them dialed in to a 25yd/300yd zero and then LEAVE THEM ALONE...at least until you can replace them with some decent rear sights.

As for the EE thing...I think many people are simply attracted to the low price. Really, under $500 is practically an impulse buy in the world of grown-up rifles. Then when they see the gun isn't very pretty or latest-thing ###y, and takes a bit of work to run really well...suddenly they decide to move on the next enthusiasm.
