why the 3030?

I have never seen such a whack of hypocrites... 30-30 is great... Will do anything yet none of you actually use it exclusively

so we're hypocrites for not useing one cartridge exclusively but you on the other hand aren't a hypocrite for useing several rifles :cool:

I could be a one cartridge hunter if I wanted to... but have several rifles to fire that cartridge

See.... that is exactly what I am talking about..... why not just come up with a logical explanation as to why you feel I am wrong... discuss our differences etc.... instead you would rather be a pretentious know it all and post childish responses to a very simple post subject..... do you actually have an opinion or do you just enjoy cutting down everyone else's?....

I see a snippet of one of my posts with a bunch missing and a vague reference to a thread I posted in at one point.... anything more specific?... A link maybe so I can read what I actually wrote?.....

To me, The 30-30 is like the match... not as efficient as the bic lighter but sometimes it's still really nice to use matches to light your cigar or the woodstove.... and they still do the job...

I like my more modern calibers (not a wsm guy etc.... but .30-06, .270.... better out to a distance, can mount a scope easily and a bit more knockdown and flatter shooting... I also liek bolt actions as they are more reliable... I am a bic lighter guy...

Then there are the flameless lighter types who think I am a relic and .30-30's are caveman tools....lol... go figure

I think you guys are both making a good point.... I digress....lol.... It's very hard to resist the temptation to come back and post when someone directly quotes you and ensues with a childish attack with no factual base even purposely misquoting and taking posts out of context to make you look foolish...... I need to learn to be the bigger person here.... point taken...
 
quite simply,..the 30-30 has laways had and always will have (bar some crazy evolution) the jice to take many many gane species quite effectively. It will continue to accomplish this with mild recoil and in proven actions that allow for a nice follow up should the need present itself.

A wonderful cartridge, ....

Homage is respect for something from days gone by for the service it has provided... I agree with you that the 30-30 has done well over time... I have no issue with that... And I have taken deer with stick and string so am very secure in my hunting abilities... When rifle season rolls around I want something better than a 30 30... And if there was something better available at the time the 30-30 winchester wouldn't even be around anymore... Just like the 30-30 ackley for the most part...
