It maniests itself in comments like " Why didn't the LEO's just shoot the gun out of his hand?" and no one in the media even blinks, corrects or clarifies such nonsense by explaining why that can't happen.

ps Zombies you shoot first, no warning, nothing. Ordinary misguided cow pokes ...well you just gotta give them a break. Maybe they came from a broken home or were picked on as a child.
 
I always thought it was because if the badguy drew first, then there was no moral ambiguity in the good guy having defended himself.
