Why the 'in person signature' for everything now

I just went through this today. I ordered 10K rounds so I had it shipped to the shop. I knew the ammo was coming today, but I got called out and had to go on a job. I got back to the shop with the Canpar sticky on the door and the delivery persons phone number. I gave her a call. She had the ammo in her van at home. She lives 10 minutes out of town & gave me directions. I swung by her place after work, signed the electronic pad, loaded the boxes, and was gone.

Not a real big deal if the driver leaves their number and is willing to work with you.

I'm gloating. Being retired. When I get stuff from CANAM just wait at home that day for the delivery. The only screw-up would be if courier is off by a day. So far everything has been spot on no damage nothing lost.

Canpar is a problematic delivery service. Yes, their drivers are helpful and will deliver to your work, but not all of us have employers that are okay with deliveries let alone firearms related deliveries. I have that same Burnaby depot to deal with and it is too far away and also isn't open late or on weekends. It does effect my decision to buy because I have to worry about how to get my packages. One of the Canpar drivers told me that they are building a depot near the airport in Richmond. If that's the case, I will order things more often. As far as the signature, I don't mind..... I just wish the depot was closer. I've been lucky with the timing of my canadaammo purchases .... Sometimes ordering around my vacation times etc.

The last couple of shipments from canpar have required I be home to sign, Luckily, I was on holidays for the first one, but now I have to figure out where their depot is and when I can get to it.... I used to sign the form and instruct them to leave it in the back of my pickup thats in the driveway. I drive truck.... so Im never home ..... Is this your new policy, or canpars?? .... and can we get around this somehow next time, Thanks...

Defiantly going to hang out around your pick up truck with all that loot in it whenever I go to Ontairo lol...

Joys of living in Burnaby. Get email pkg is sent, Ding Dong next day with package (last ammo order arrived at 10am, just in time to play with it during morning coffee), or worst case scenario 5 min drive to depot.

Canpar service has been excellent for me, no complaints. With free shipping wouldn't even bother to pick it up even if they had a store front in North Van. Life is GOOD :)

Never had a problem with canpar. In the delivery notice email there is a link for a drop slip with your shipment info already in it. You print it, sign it and leave instructions where you want the driver to leave it. I just had a delivery today and no problems.

Begs the question, which ammo/caliber?

100 boxes of 100 rounds of Mini Mags.

I ordered a conversion kit for the Glock and I was told they like this ammo.

Restricted firearms must be sent to the address on your license. I usually specify shipment by Canada Post and then they hold the package for me at the Post Office. In theory, you then need a temporary ATT to get the package from the Post Office to your home.

Here is a semi-related question. Can I have restricted firearms delivered to my place of employment, provided I leave the package sealed?

Okay, that is what I thought. I guess maybe I'll have to take a sick day or two when I order some new guns. :)

Mini-mags works well in all my 22s (GSG, CZ and SR22). Kind of expensive, similar to my cast reloads for 357Mag. Each of my 22s likes diff. bulk ammo.

Honestly I'm sick and tired of shipping through Canada Post. I just had a box arrive yesterday from Wanstalls and the box arrived damaged, and the delivery guy didn't even knock. I get a beep on my smartphone and its an email from CP stating the box was delivered. So I go downstairs and it is tucked behind a bush, damaged side down. I carry it inside, and the box I noticed has a downward-forced gouge like something either fell on it (corner of another box) or they used a tool to make it appear that way. The box was missing 3 KCI 10/31 mags (should have had four) but it didn't look like they could have easily been "fished-out" of that hole without further damaging the box. Also the one mag that was in the box was in an unsealed plastic bag, leading me to wonder if they could have fished those mags out, at least one empty bag should have been in the box.... fish the bag and the mag might not come with it. Fish the mag and the bag might not come with it. Wanstalls were extremely professional in handling this situation, I have to give them credit for that. Kudos!!!!!

There should really be a better form of "chain of custody" like in evidence management. Had there been a signature required, I would have seen who delivered the package and could have challenged the driver on those damages.

My canpar letter worked just fine today, found 500 rounds sitting in my bluebox,
I made sure I was extra polite to the dear mr / mrs canpar driver,
Their policies might be a pain, just like the depot locations, but their drivers all sound like great people,
So I'll bear thru and still say they are my favorite shipper. The speed and costs are great, and they will handle all of our goodies so lets stop nagging on them before they drop ammo altogether !
:D now to the range I go!
