Why the plethora of AR Shorties?

I love the M4 platform, the 20" AR's seem way too ackward for me. The shorties are great in the field and great around barricades. Plus I think they look way better than the 20" models. Good fit and feel with a 14.5" bbl, I can live with the slight loss of velocity and energy, there is still more than enough to get the job done, besides I don't think someone hit with a bullet out of a shorty would say it hurts less!

My first AR was a SD M4, great gun, had absolutely no interest in anything with a barrel longer than 14.5". Just my opinion.

Accuracy has very little to do with barrel length. Proponents of short barrels hide behind this fact.
Groupings at 100m and being able to make hits on a target at known range with known conditions mean F-all when the targets are at range and need to make hits. The velocity of the longer barrel helps to hide shooter error. Call a target as 300 when it is 350 and you pay less, call a 15km wind a 10km and you pay less, sometimes paying less means you are still in the Bull, sometimes you are still on paper. Inside short is handy, outside velocity is king.
