i just ordered a SVT40 from wolverine . im wondering why is it priced at $425 ? when millions was produced , far more than what the russian produced of SKS45 (which is due here in july , or some day:rolleyes:) and that is priced as low as $166.

did majority of the 6 million SVT not survived?

Maybe they just haven't been sent to market in large enough numbers or maybe people just value them more then an SKS because of the caliber etc.

I figured you'd be the fella answering this question, not asking it.

Good question though. Maybe with the detachable magazine, people figure they can sell it for more like the sks-d ;)

the only thing i can think of ... is SVT is not as popular as SKS (maybe also due to lack of ammo) and so therefore the importer cant bring them in in large shipment like they can with the SKS45 and unload them cheap and fast. im not complaining about cheap mind you. :D

Well the SVT-40's available now are nice quality guns, the SKS 1945 coming in might be a boatload of junk (sewer pipes tied to a rotten piece of 2X4). What I do not understand is why someone would sell a rifle that normally retails for $350.00 on the US/Canada market for $166.00.

Their prices only went up because they couldn't import Russian or Chinese SKS's any more.

The prices on Enfields and Mausers in the States are usually a lot cheaper than ours, because as our availability decreased on everything else, those rifles suddenly became a hot commodity.

Essentially, they were some of the few long guns we could buy and sell without many hassles.

Our prices were cheap on the Danish Garands and the Chinese m14's, because nobody else would, or could buy them.

We probably wouldn't have even seen any if they could have been sold in the US.

but , the US ban also extends to both the SKS and SVT so why the big price difference here?

and how would you know the boatload of SKSs are junk? sewer pipe tied to rotten piece of 2x4????

never mind , i just checked your site and you got a dozen SVT for sale and no SKS45 .:)

Since no one as actually seen these guns in person, not even the distributor they could be nice or junk. I won't buy any untill I can actually see for myself in what condition they are in.

so you admit you havent seen it so you dont have a clue. well , i havent seen it either but describing it as "sewer pipe tied to rotten piece of 2x4" is extreme for someone who dont have a clue.

i guess we'll have to wait and see what it looks like when i get mine and if it isnt anything like you described then im one happy camper .:dancingbanana:

im a betting man , i believe its in better shape , i ordered two .

- I said might be, at this point in time no one knows for sure! If they come from the former Soviet Ukrainian depots, they will be decent and I will buy some, otherwise all bets are off!

Soviet Ukranian depots? Not even the Lord of War wanted them? OMG !!!

Kidding I already have 2 VG+ Russian SKS's so I don't mind the surprise.

I don't know. Maybe they aren't releasing the SVT's very much yet and are just trying to clear out the SKS's.

could be ... i also guess there is more 7.62x39 ammo to clear also.

i just checked the going price for a SVT40 and the SKS45 on gunbroker.com to see what the americans are paying ... generally the SVT40 sells for $800 -1200 and the SKS45 start at $300-400.

sounds like we are getting the same discounts up here ... man, i have alot to learn about the SVT.

Hey, if they want to bring in a boatload of SVT40s for under $200, I'll be right in line waiting to buy one. hint hint ;)

The banner is up there right now anyways. The only thing preventing me from buying an SVT, is the price.
Red rifles are cool you know.
