Why we hunt, Dad ? Grand daughter asked !

We are all in the food chain whether we like it or not... I choose to be honest about it and take a direct participant role. Some prefer to believe that chicken and beef are "produce" and grow in farmer's fields and are harvested wrapped in cellophane on styro trays... I started taking my kids hunting and fishing when they were very young... they understand where we are in the food chain...

I like your answer.
I hunt because it is a genetically ingrained instinct I was born with. My household's diet consists of self harvested meat and fish. Good wholesome natural food which doesn't come from the "organics" aisle at the local grocer

Some good answers here.

I'm lucky, my 6 yo doesn't ask why we hunt/fish, he just knows it's something he likes and wants to do.

I hunt because it's something I enjoy. I feel a connection with nature, it is personal when I choose what animal I will track and harvest. It is relaxing, and a great way to get rid of stress.

Im getting my PAL and hunting license because im sick of listening to the whiners who are anti hunting but yet still eat meat. I mean do they think the cows and chickens and pigs commit suicide so they can eat them?

And it would be hypocritical of me to say much to them if I don't hunt myself. And I really want some wolf pelts.
