Why Would ANYONE Want an SKS Rifle in 2025?

Agreed a great historical rifle collectable / frugal ( well sort of ) fun to mod and shoot.Perfect end of the world rifle.Just dropped a hush holster into a chin lee carbine and have been blasting a few figure 12 targets.Always a pleasure hammering Herman the German or Jonnie the Commie!

Why not ?
Another gun that is in the gun cabnet that the Poly Protesters Dec 06 is planning to DEEP SIX us RESPONSIBLE GUN USERS. SHAME...
On the other hand these are quite the nicest old service guns out there that holds its own in the bush and WHY the NATIVES IN CANADA just loves them for hunting medium size game and well placed shots gets bigger game also. GO FIGURE!!!

The SKS is a great little milsurp SA rifle. I like it a lot and may be a tad bias but theirs plenty of pro's to owning a SKS...they're NON-RESTRICTED ,you can hunt/plink with ,it's not too expensive, it's a good rifle how it comes stock but a big benefit is after a little bubba-ing leftists will start to weep ,wet their beds and have that atrocious blue hair dye scared straight out of them :) . Plus lots of spare parts, reliable, simple to fix/mod,cheap to shoot and plenty of ammo available . A Bang for a buck the french ticklers , theyre imo a good buy ,not over priced and are made well, most are #matching and unissued !

LOL!!!
Being in the right place at the right time.
It's not like they're a "Dime a Doz" !
That's why it's at the top of the list...

So I can self identify as an indigenous sustenance hunter and potentially keep and use this rifle unmolested by government…

According to Poly you won't even have to ;) they're smarter than everyone who thinks the govt would actually try that.

Eh, for $700 its still the only legal semi auto rifle under a couple Gs and with readily available ammo you can have that fits the purpose of protection/defense.

Thats about it for me. But damn they are gettin to be a hard pill to swallow. Especially for the lack of capability.

They ARE fun and the ammo is still relatively cheap at least. How much longer? Dunno.

I remember when Lever Arms in Vancouver brought in Russian SKS rifles and sold as a package deal with 1200 rounds of 7.62x39 surplus for $299.00…some Bulgarian rifles in the mix too if I recall

Man.

Think the first gun I ever bought was a $189.99 Chinese SKS from SIR mailorder

I remember finally wanting one...and to date myself, retailers were asking $229 at the time. It hadn't been that long since there were deals like “buy two cases of ammo, get an SKS for $99”.

One day $600-$700 will sound like a screaming deal. Put another way, I watched a review of the SKS online years ago and the guy doing it said; "if this rifle was produced today to the same spec with modern machinery, it would be a $2,000 rifle"

Maybe/maybe not, but if you ignore the sell price and stack-up the features + known reliability?

You could buy one if you want to see how it feels to have a banned gun with a ton of confiscation non sense attached to it after spending 4x the actual value for it that was most likely purchased by someone in debt using a high percentage interest credit card. Run on sentence but correct.
