I bought one off the EE in 308. Had a McMillan Winchester target stock upgrade and a jewel trigger. Brings it closer to the sharpshooters than the heavy varmint configuration. I just bought a rail for it and added a scope. Looking forward to trying out this old cult classic rifle, oh and yes it’s a Wilson barrel from when they were essentially a custom barrel.

Sort of the Winchester version and the predecessor/inspiration ti the Remington 5R milspec.

Sharpshooter...that was the one with the Schneider barrel and stainless action. Winchester custom shop builds but you could only order it in the same configuration as everyone else. They had 24" barrels and only came in 22-250 and 308. Nice looking rifles!

One thing I like about these rifles are the 26” barrel. With a 1:10 twist rate you should easily hit the fps for the accuracy node with 168 or 175 federal gold. Normally the 24” or shorter with the 1:10 I have to shoot different ammo 167 Lapua or use a hotter load of varget to hit the accuracy mode for 308.
