It's just about as simple as you see in the previous pic's. Next time I strip it all down (very soon) I'll snap some shots of the parts. Its made from 1/8" flat & 1/4" x 1/4" cold rolled mild steel. I just made a new latch in the shape of the old one but with an extension out the back that was drilled out/opened up as you see. The toggle is just a piece of 1/4" square rod with one end shaped like a pin and the other the toggle. it it drilled through the middle to 3/32" and the trigger group is drilled in an "approximate" location for a pin to pass through which the toggle pivots on. I really just made the latch and fitted it until it would hold the mag in place nicely, then went about shaping the toggle to match the shape and location of the latch. The trigger group is drilled through the bottom and opened up with a 1/4" square rasp to pass the toggle through.

Hopefully some pics will explain it better than I can in words.

Great work. I see a lot of Galil in these pics.

Now those banana mags actually look right.

Will keep checking back for progress pics.

DING DING DING... We have a winner!

Yeah, its a mock Galil. The layout and shape of the Galil lends its self better to this project than a AK clone. The long barrel doesn't look so out of place and I find that the lack of upper guard and exposed piston tube distracts the eye from the fact that the proportions are off.

There's not much left to do now... I have to finish the rear sight components, fabricate the top cover latch and then detail and paint it.
