Gents, having been looking around for that 'economically priced' .22 semi-auto I found on the board some of the following offerings:

Marlin 795
Stevens 87A
Stevens 87H
Lakefield 64B
Savage 64FV

Being unfamiliar with any of them, which one would you prefer and why? Many thanks for your help and Merry Christmas!

The savage 64fv will treat you well CZ, great for "plinking" around and not to expensive...If you want to add on, of course Ruger is the way to go, but to plink these are your monsters...Every now and then there is the odd Nylon 66 (Remington) that comes up.. now they are fun and reliable, a little older, but I have never had a problem with mine...
Good Luck!
Ken

The Marlin and the Savage are well built and as accurate and reliable as off-the-shelf-semis get. Don't forget the 10/22 if you're bent on a semi.

The Savage 64 is the modern day version of the Lakefield 64B. Made in the same plant in Lakefield Ontario, possibly on new tooling. You wont go wrong with either.

if you do get a nylon 66,just to the minimal clean and DON'T TAKE IT TO PIECES- just pull the cover and maybe take out the barrel to clean- NO FURTHER- it takes a 3 handed einstein to put it back together and have it work( well maybe a little exaggeration)
