I am about to commit to purchasing an older but hardly used Wichita Silhouette rifle, single shot, bolt action (308) which had a Kreiger barrel installed in it sometime in the past.
Anyone have any 1st hand experience, with these rifles at a rifle match?

I got to admit, I am a little excited, as this is my first full bore rifle specifically for NRA style matches.

Cheers....

Funny you mentioned that Dan, Silverback remembers these too at his old range near Stittsville. On the internet there is a ton of hits on thier bolt action pistols too. Not much about thier rifles!

I should of figured you would be one of the first to respond!
Cheeers......

Wichita 1375 actions have a very tight bolt to bolt raceway and you must keep the groove for the bolt release free of dirt or it will not cycle. They are a very strong action and can take a ton of pressure! Had one in a 6PPC for years.

Double check the extractor. The early 1375 had a bronze extractor and they would round off and would not extract the case and they had to be refitted by sending the action back to T.J. The only problems that I ever found in them, was the extractor and you could not shoot quick if you had to, the bolt was like moving a log, but they were strong like bull.

Bought it, is that what you call it? t would be interesting to see listers valuation; top ondition Whita 1375 action,
30" Kreiger barrel with 150 rounds trought it, English thumhole"paddle" stock, bedded y Carlie Bayne(tops), Canjar trigger.

Charlie will do and this only infrequently, bedding for close friends. He used to do a lot for fullbore shooters and baldtop, you are right, his work is art. Very meticulous and an acccomplished shooter, the best Maritimer at many shoots.
