Every case fired in an XCR that I have seen looks something like that. Apparently its how they are, a unique feature.

the rifle cycles fine. and there doesn't seem to be any problem with ejecting cases. some more feedback would be appreciated. does anyone elses xcr do the same thing. ive tried searching and searching the xcr forum. no luck. but i am having troubles describing what is happening to search! thanks for replies thus far.

How about a weak firing pin spring or an oversized firing pin hole?
The later is most likely.

The oversized firing pin hole on the XCR has been an issue since day one of the rifles. I dealt with it when the first batch, and have seen it on every new xcr I have seen since. Some do it more, some less, but all of the ones I have seen do it.

In some cases, the firing pin hole is so out of spec that the primers will pierce. Robarm's suggested "solution" in these cases was to take a drill bit, and radius the firing pin hole.

One of the XCR owner's I know went as far as to put a bushing in the firing pin hole to correct the problem.

This is purely a QC issue on Robarm's part IMO. It can be fixed if the owner really wants to. The design issues, such as the single perpendicular bolt holding the barrel in place can not.
