Wife joining me on small game hunt

#### it must suck to live in Ontario. Move to Alberta , no license required to hunt rabbits, the season is year round too. Take whoever you want with you no license required , they can even carry their own gun as long as they are under the direct supervision of a PAL holder. Or just take the Alberta hunter Ed course online in a couple of hours. Move west , the east is a lost cause!

Its no different there than here its just some are reading the definition incorrectly.

Funny how something so simple as taking your wife hunting can come up with 5 pages of guys bickering whether its legal or not lol take your wife enjoy yourself maybe it will spark her interest and we can welcome another hunter to our ranks...

Take your wife along, and enjoy the trip. I'd like to think that the word salad they use for definitions of hunting are to get the dodgy guys caught up, not to lay charges on people doing nothing.

So wife and I went out, but no success in the hunt. Too many people with dogs and lots of bangs!! Nothing against them or the dogs, it's just that the dogs chase and bark so much, even when I'm like a 100 yards away, only sightings but no joy :(

Did stumble into a couple of birds but they were too quick (read i was too slow lol). One of the pics has a track of a rabbit or few that we followed and did see some movement, but too far away.

Nice day though, not too windy, sun was out. We'll do it again, but maybe on a different day and different spot.

Looks like a beautiful day to be outside! I don't know about ontario but in BC we have an "initiation hunting license". I think It is like $15-$30 and it would allow her to participate as long as you sign a little forum saying shes in your care (you being the full licensed individual). Might be worth checking out if ontario has something similar, if she plans to come along next season!

These nice days are a blessing and a curse at the same time..... Just too many people out in the woods or farmers fields.... Tried doing a few coyote sets but each farm has someone or something going on... Dog walkers, snow machines, and even tobogganers :) .........Oh well, it's all good.....

Glad you were able to get out with the wife.

As long as you had fun, it's all that matter!

A few things that works for me, with the wife coming along to hunt/watch :bigHug:
- Bring snacks/munchies.
- Plan some sort of a route
- If it's the first time she goes out hunting, explain to her what you're doing and what you are looking for.
- Don't forget to take breaks to enjoy the munchies :)
- Bring some small binoculars to observe the odd stuff around (while you are enjoying your snacks)
- If you think there are chances she might want to come back... get her a nice dossard/upland vest. It is no secret women will enjoy doing something more if they can do so while looking pretty

- As an added bonus, she'll be able to carry snacks and other nick-nacks she might thing she might need... Like lip-balm...

Heck, she might even be incline to show her hunting-vest to her friends... and next thing you know, you'll be organizing a girl's outing to blast some clays...
