I'll recommend a SIG Pro 2022 in 9mm - I saw one today for sale in EE forum
I have nothing for sale, therfore I will give you some unbiased advise. Try different ones. Go to the local range and see if you can handle some of the shooters guns, most are very accomandateing to new shooters. Or if you are near a range that rents guns, try, try, try. Most advice to buy this gun or that one is not worth the electrons that have been inconvienced to bring the message to you. Feel of the pistol is very important and should be the first step in buying one. Next step is to look for one that is easy to use and easy to take apart for cleaning. Finally, buy the one she likes and you will be happy.
IMI Baby Eagle
Try the IMI baby eagle on for size. A great looking well made little cousin of the dessert eagle. It fits small hands well and I find the ergonomics to be much better than that of the sr9. The Glock 17 would also be an excellent choice, my girlfriend loves shooting it.

x2 great gun. CZ design, built like a tank. Parts made by Tanfoglio, assembled by IWI. Standard issue Israeli side-arm. Feels real good in your hands, and the trigger is almost as, if not just as good as the cz shadow. The price tag is also very appealing at $699.
I got one in 9mm that I picked up from reliable at the top of the page, and I couldn't be happier with it.

The Smith & Wesson M&P9 Julie Goloski Edition. Fairly standard size, easy to operate, light due to polymer frame, and easy to maintain. A great gun regardless of shooter. That said this one has a support ribbon engraved in the slide, and comes with a pink back strap. The back straps can be swaped and also come with black ones. perfect for her, but you can switch the back straps if your not cool with pink, and you can use it to. Back straps can be switched for different hand sizes.
The SR9 is a decent gun but it has a nasty feeling trigger. I had a chance to shoot one out and found that it shot really nicely despite the trigger. With a tuned trigger it should be an amazing gun. I wandered around the 'net long enough to find out that there is a trigger kit available along with informaton on fixing up a few things that would make the gun pretty slick.

I got one a couple of weeks ago and I am loving it more and more. Great price, comes with 2 mags, solid as all get out and uses Tangfolio mags so they are easy to find from Freedom Ventures at the top of the page.

X2. This was the first gun my wife ever shot and she loved it. Everything she's tried after has been compared to it. Ambi features helped as she is a leftie.
