wife wants a 9mm

Try the IMI baby eagle on for size. A great looking well made little cousin of the dessert eagle. It fits small hands well and I find the ergonomics to be much better than that of the sr9. The Glock 17 would also be an excellent choice, my girlfriend loves shooting it.

Baby Eagle or Jericho 941 are great guns, but not light!

STOP feeding the trolls and back to topic for a real CGNer with a real question.

My 2 cents:

Something light, to me that means Polymer gun.

Something 500-800 to me you have the Glock 17 or 34, S&W M&P, Ruger SR9, STI GP6.

I've shot all of the above. I'm not sure what size your wife's hand may be, but if they're small, I would go with the SR9 or GP6.

She may want to check out a Jericho/Baby Eagle. It's full steel and maybe a little on the heavy side, but there is less felt recoil which may help her accuracy and follow up shots.

My SP2022 is for sale in the ee. The grip is the most ergonomic I have ever felt. The trigger is smooth in both DA and SA. It is soft shooting and deadly accurate. Sig quality.
Compact? Nope. It passed the French police torture test of being dropped on the ground while holding your arms in the air and running backwards! :)

I have not tried alot of 9mm before but i would suggest a glock 17 or 19 in 9mm.

The glocks frame is polymer, not metal so it weighs a bit less than traditional firearms made out of metal. Right now i have a sig 229 elite and a glock 17 and i prefer the sig 229 and it is a bit smaller than my glock. The glock 17 is a bit bigger to be called compact, but you can get a glock 19 which is alot smaller. I have also heard alot of good things from the ruger S49

Keep in mind, last time i checked the glock 19 was alot more expensive than the 17. I think the 19 is around the $900 range.

The sig is around $1200 range

The ruger is in the $550 range

and the 17 is around $750 range. All the price i have stated are for brand new firearms, i am sure there are some fellows on ee with these firearms for sale for alot cheaper.

What i suggest is take her to your local gun shop and let her try out a couple 9's and then when she picked out one she liked either buy it for her at the shop or come on ee and pick one up.

The one problem with ee is that if your cfo takes along time to transfer like ontario than with transfer / shipping time your wife might not get her new pistol in time for Christmas.

I brought my wife into the local shop to see what she liked and the clerk passed her a HK P30L. Its ergonomics are incredible, if she doesn't decide to get it I will.
When you hold it, its like it welds to your hand.

Blue, buy her the SR9, among all mentioned its the best bang for the buck. Its very accurate, works very well with a variety of ammo, has very quick resale if you decide you don't like it, the trigger is set back in the trigger guard so folks with really small hands can easily handle it. all the guns mentioned here are great guns, but its an individual choice, she felt it, it fit, she liked it, just buy it. You won't go wrong in doing so.

If you want to move her up in time, take a long hard look at the small HK's
