Wife wants a Tavor

Wow, thanks, everyone for your input, great information for a first-time Tavor buyer.

Ended up going a slightly different route.
A fellow reputable member was selling his HK SL-8 G36 conversion and that is what we scooped up for now. It just was an opportunity that we couldn’t let slip past us.
However, don’t fret, we made a pact, that for every 6-8 months while OIC is in effect, we will buy another rifle, so, Tavor is next!

You'll enjoy the SL-8. I did the G36 conversion but left the bull barrel. Its probably one of my more accurate rifles out of the box. The wife and I also own a Tavor with the trigger pack, T97 in a T97.ca stock, and a K&M M17S for bullpups. The Tavor and T97 shoot about the same grouping no matter ammo I feed them but the T97 is much lighter and much cheaper. It's milspec so expect 2 MOA on average. Being in the military, I usually cringe when someone totes milspec as a benefit. Now if I could only own one bullpup it would be the K&M. IMHO, its more accurate than the other two and there is no comparison in triggers. The Elftmann trigger makes this gun as far as I'm concerned.

Again just my 2 cents. Congrats on the SL-8. There are lots of mods and support for that rifle in the forums. I use the 416 mag housing so I can use standard mags.
Cheers

You have to forget what you know about conventional rifles in order to adapt to a Bull Pup like the Tavor.

Yesterday following our IPSC practice, I gave several people a Tavor experience, including two teens, one female. The kids adapted easier than the adults.

Easiest and safest way to lock back the bolt was to insert an EMPTY mag as most found the bolt latch awkward to operate.

All shot credible off hand groups at 25m and most hit a 10"x 12" gong at 100m.

Of course they challenged me so I shot a nice, tight group at 25m and hit the 100m gong repeatedly. Then I sat in the military x-legged position and pounded the hell out of the 100m gong, shifted to the prone position and proceeded to hit the 16" 200m gong 10/10, the red dot covering it.

I believe it's capable of giving all the accuracy I expect to 200m, more if I practiced.

Try them out if you can find someone locl to you who'll let you play.
I'ld also suggest a Type 97 too.

I like both but I do find the Tavor rather on the chunky side in comparison.
The safety and ergos don't bother me as much as the T97 feeling thinner and less block like.
Her height, arm length and body length may make her decision as to being comfy with it.

Calm down people,,,I like both.
