In the 2020 season my wife shot her second ever Whitetail in her second season of deer hunting and decided she wanted to have a shoulder mount done because as she said "I may never get another one or another larger than this one and I'd like to have this one mounted for the memory" so with that I caped it and we took it to a taxidermist in Saskatoon with a good reputation. A couple weeks ago we got the call it was done and ready for pick up so we made arrangements to kill two birds with one stone and pick up her mount along with a gun I purchased from a fellow in Saskatoon. We made a day of it doing some shopping at The Fishin' Hole, take out from Schryers Smoke Pit and picked up her deer and my gun. When we got home that night I took down the Trap practice chart hanging on the wall and hung her mount in it the spot reserved for it. And she paid for it herself. :d Now to work on getting her a bigger one to put up next to it! ;)

She shot it at 17 yards from our ground blind with my 270 Win Mossberg Patriot Revere topped with a Nikon Pro-Staff 5 2.5-10x42 using Hornady factory ammo 140gr Interlock BTSP.

Thanks spank, that Mossy Patriot Revere gets some great reviews and I had never heard of it before now. Whole rig sounds like a primo WT harvester set up! Thanks again

I really like it. I bought it at Prophet River just before the fall 2019 hunting season. Clay gave me a great price on it and a smoking deal on the scope. I don't handload, it groups very nicely with factory rounds so I can only imagine how well it would shoot with a good handload. To date it's taken 3 WT, 2 Mulies and a few coyotes.

Very nice looking rifle, for some reason it put me in mind of the Parker Hales I used to look at in the Sears catalogues as a child.
Not sure if I am sold on the fluted bolt look yet. And ya gotta love the technology in scopes these days, the best I could do 30 years ago was a 1.5 - 6 x 20. You have twice the scope there ( yes I haven't shopped in a while ).
Good kit just makes everything so much more enjoyable, does the wife choose her own kit?

Not so far, she is quite content to use mine. We hunt together from the same blind so if we do split up in separate blinds then maybe one day she'll want her own but for now she says she is a-ok with using mine. She does have her own shotguns though. She has a Browning BT-99 Micro she shoots trap with and a Beretta A400 Xplor 20ga she hunts and shoots skeet with....
