My wife has decided that she'd like to take up deer hunting. She's in the process of getting her Hunter number/license and will be trying some day trips this fall.

Not like I ever needed a reason to buy another rifle, but I figured she needed her own to pack around.
She's always liked plinking with my 30-30's, so it knew a Levergun would be right up her alley.

For her Birthday I managed to locate a beauty JM Marlin 308mxlr and topped it with a 2-7 Leupold. The 308 Marlin Express round is perfect for her (recoil of a 7mm-08) and easy to reload if ammo gets scarce. She instantly fell in love with it.



After I sighted it in, she filled the tube and fired away at 200y. With a little more practice I think she'll do just fine.



 
That right there is an awesome story and an awesome rifle! Congrats to both of you! If you want to reduce the recoil even further,..look into the Limbsaver Airtech recoil pads. They work like a hot damn!! True story! :)

The signs looks good, sounds like I'll be doing some work to the indoor range this fall too.
 
Ya, we did some work to the indoor around the fuse panel this spring. The painting and general cleanup that the members are doing is really starting to take shape. I stuck a new active/cease fire sign in the indoor as well as the 50 yard. I haven't been back since, perhaps tomorrow I should get my a$$ out there...:)
 
7 years ago I had a 308 blr. Went to lebaron to pick up some ammo for it and the lady accidentally gave me two boxes of 308 marlin instead on winchester. I didn't notice and of course ya can't return ammo. So i've had these two boxes of 308 marlin sitting in my cabinet for the last 3/4s of a decade.

you should try to sell them before they go bad, if they haven't already;)

well I am not to sure about that ,anytime I came home with a bag from victoriaç secret for her it was very well worth the effort and the cash spent .......It would be a tossup as to what would pay the better reward miles ,,,,,,,lets leave it at that ,,,,,,,Dutch
 
There's slow days hunting, Why not VS under camo?
It does a man good to do it outdoors once in a while...... ;)
 
Nice rifle. I had one in .35 Remington for a while and it had the "Marlin Jam". Returned it and didn't get another because Marlin was in the ####ter at the time but i do miss the style of rifle for sure. Glad you and your Misses like it.
