wiggly op rod guide?

The barrel gets hotter than Satans cornhole on a Summer day in hell.

What good is loctite or glue going to do?

If you know someone that does basic welding, just take the assembled receiver to his set-up, hold the op rod guide and op rod in line with the barrel and gas piston and get him to do two quick small weld spots around the op rod guide and the barrel.

It's a cheap, rock solid battle rifle man, weld the thing. It will never slip out of place again.

Mine was so loose I could almost spin the the op rod guide around the barrel if the op rod was removed. I got my mechanic buddy to weld her in place and have had no problems with it since :rockOn:

Just remember to grease the inside of the op rod guide where the op rod glides through.

Perfect fix for a cheap, rough, Chinese made battle rifle.
 
Sorry guys just could not resist the temptation. When it comes to dimples and stiff non wiggling op rods I always turn to my wife for a solution. DOHH!

This is the suggested method from Hungry
Use a center punch or a spring loaded center punch then use the loctite.
Here is a pic after I did mine .
It hasnt moved since :)
You can see how it raises the metal around the dimples , I had to tap mine on with a hammer after .

Center punch for Home Depot (Medicine Hat) on my way to Calgary for the July clinics this past summer... that's where I bought my last center punch for this loose op rod barrel peening operation. Yes, a knurling tool is great but they run close to $ 200! :eek:

i like the idea man but in reality if i decide to change stocks i will need to be able to get the rod guide off. or if i go to sell it, it will probably depreciate the value due to not being able to get the guide off. i know u can grind it off but that will be fugly.

In regards to locktite under high heat leaving go. I was under the impression that the barrel expands when heated therefore holding the oprod guide tightly. I just shimmed mine with steel feeler gauge and ran loctite along the sides and in the pin hole. So far so good but i will post if she ever lets go. Cheers

Why do you need to take the op rod guide off to change the stock?

Might upgrade to one of the fancy high end stocks, don't some of them have scientific type op rod guides that can be adjusted.
