Hi, given the gun violence in the states recently do you have any thoughts on powder and primer shortages?? The recent statement given by the US president, Obama that there will be new gun control in the US makes me wonder how it will effect us up here in Canada. The last time there was turmoil in the states, we had problems up here. I'm not a hoarder but, just wonder if I need to stock up????

i'm stocked up pretty good, low on powder/primers (15lbs/5k primers) though, lebaron never has what i need :(
 
Are you serious? The hoarding is already over. There is nothing left to sell in the states. I suggest you spend some time on some US forums. Some of the local gun shops are closed with a sign reading "nothing to sell".

Purportedly, the panic buying going on in the states right now makes the panic of '08 look like a 10% off sale...

There is a lot going on the states right now from many retailers no longer carrying AR-15s to the proposed laws to be introduced in January. They're more draconian than here in some respects.

Discovery has cancelled all gun related programming...

There's a movement happening in the states right now and, yes, people have reacted to it.

Buy what you can now in Canada because the USA is OUT and where do you think we get most of our stuff from?

Next we will see SKS's going for $600.00 and Lee Enfields going for $800.00. Nobody will be able to afford buying the $5,000 M1s.
 
I don't know if a person can EVER have enough powder and primers on hand. Brass generally is very plentiful on most commonly used cartridges and they can last a while if you aren't shooting max loads all the time. I'll never have a need to buy more .38 Spl. or 9x19mm cases. I've got many thousands of those. If I could get my hands on several thousand more IVI 5.56mm cases I'm thinking I'll be in good shape there too.
 
.224 Projectiles are what I already find to be lacking.
I have over 5,000 primers of each and a few 8# jugs on hand.
It's not as much as I would like but it should hold me over for the time being.

that's ok, i don't like winchester, cci is the best!!! which is why they are always out... :(
 
Do you need to stock up? probably not, unless you're almost out of something then you should get it. I expect the panic buying happening in the US is going to effect availability for the next 6-12months and then everything will normalize again. It's not a long term thing.
 
Shouldn't be as bad this time around seeing as they are winding down on the military side of things and manufactures will have more leeway to ramp up civIlian production.
Was something of a double whammy with big government orders taking priority, then domestic demand to be filled and lastly the small unimportant Canadian market gets last choice of whatever might be left.
 
When isn't there some sort of panic buying?? A few years ago it was primers!!! They're gonna ban primers...everyone went out and bought 100 000 primers..Now its Pmags....guys buying 15-20 Pmags at a time..lol Go bananas guys!!
