seems there are wild boar on the loose in alberta and saskatchewan. anybody have any ideas how many free range populations have established themselves?

i am assuming that no licence is required and that there is no closed season in either province.

anybody hunt them?

I've been told there are quite a few running wild and causing serious havoc in the Cypress Hills - south of Maple Creek Sask.
From what I was told, no licence required, and people are encouraged to shoot as many as possible :runaway:

Lots of pigs along the South Sask and can be shot anytime.

Cheers!!

would a hunting licence or wildlife certificate be required to be out in the field hunting them?

There was actually a bounty offered in the county of Lac St Ann in Alberta. As long as you obtain landowner permission, you can kill as many as you can find.

There are some around my neck of the woods, I have yet to see one but always see were they were rooting up :(. In the winter time I hear people fly around in planes to spot them, then go in with ski-doos later to chase them out of the cattails/shrubs so people can get shots off at them. I hear, they are not very good eatin, they taste like slough. And they can be shot anytime, no season/lisence unless its in a provicial park.
