I was looking through the info about Wild Bunch and looking at the sample stages I noticed round counts of 20?

How does that work. I see you only load your mags to 5 and all the holster setups I see only carry 2 mags. With one in the gun and 2 on the belt that is only 15.

I know I must be missing the obvious here but....... ??

John

In Wild Bunch, you can use any main match rifle 40 caliber of larger which also includes the lightning in 44-40 or 45 Colt. There is also the "Special Agent" Wild Bunch category which allows you to use one double action revolver and speed loaders. Not sure if this is in the rule book yet.

How many mags and pouches are you packing for your 1911?

Do you know what the rational is for only loading 5 rounds at a time in pistol mags?

John

If you are asking me? I always have 1 mag for my gun, and four on my belt. But, some wild bunch matches can have 20 or even 30 handgun rounds. So, I have the capacity for four double mag pouches. For the matches I attend, I have all my mags pre-loaded so I don't have to load any at the match, if the match has 4 stages of 15 rounds, I'll have 12 mags loaded.

The rational for the 5 rounds is because the revolvers only use 5 rounds, and generally the stages are designed to be able to be shot regular cowboy action or Wild Bunch (with additional repetitions for the 1911 via mag changes).

Wild Bunch is starting to sound like IPSC in a costume! I'm hoping to shoot an actual dedicated Wild Bunch match in Phoenix next year, I'm really hoping that is not the case.

Okay :)

Thank you for that info.

I am seriously thinking of try some CAS next year and I see a lot of matches seem to include a Wild Bunch match as well.

Hmmmmmm....... $$$$$$..... Lol :D

Sounds more like some IPSC mixed with IDPA with a little CAS all run thru the blender :p

Some weird rules but still looks like some fun.

This is very interesting. Do you know if this is going to become part of the main match or if it is only a side match category?
