Wild game butcher Edmonton area

Hope you had fun and went home with great Alberta venison. Are they calves that were hunted and killed?

A cow and a calf. Of the 140 tags available for that hunt, I was told that only 10 were for bulls. My guesstimate of live weight was 200 pounds for the calf and 300 for the cow. Cuts from the larger animal were about the size I would get from a large whitetail deer here in Ontario. I had not taken a cooler with me, and only brought home a small amount of elk meat.

WOW, I imagine that both elk did no reach their standard weight class. I've witnessed really big (weight wise) bulls, cows and calves on the hoof, in the Medicine Hat area. Needless to say, slayed animals as well.
