There has been all kinds of pig hunting stuff on here lately and I was wondering where the closest populations were to me here in Southern BC. After I sell my house I was thinking of the Dominican as a present, but boar hunting might be something I should look at too. If the trip is into the states, which I have no problem with, what about transporting meat back? Are there any issues with that? I'd go back to Texas in a heart beat, I loved it there.

Obviously I could google all day to figure it out, but I figure someone here has done this before and I like first hand passed on information compared to advertising.

Thanks everyone.

Alot of our customers are practicing on the cinema range then heading to Hog Wild specialties in Mayerthorpe for the hunt. I don't know if is the closest to you, but it seems to be a well run operation.

I have looked into them before. I will seriously consider them when the time comes. I was kinda hoping a bit more... like population control.

Pipe dreams... there are a few small populations of wild feral hogs but locals keep them well controlled. You'd need to spend a ton of time in an area, and know the area, to find them. The local boys get a good handle on them but pretty hard for a guy to drop into an area that has some for two weeks and find them. Best bet, go to Mayerthorpe, it's pretty countryside anyhow.

There are hunts in Alberta, Sask, and MB. Feral pigs are becoming a problem in many parts of Western Canada and a lot of places are getting into the European monster hogs. In MB and Sask I dont even think you need a permit to hunt them ! In Nov of this year two buddies are heading to Sask to hunt at this place. Check it out..
