Hey,

Just found this company that builds take-down marlin lever action rifles, I have a couple win. 30-30's that I was wondering if the same thing could be done to them too. Gunsmith job? or not worth it at all. Also is it worthwhile trying to mount a scope onto a 30-30 or is range/accuracy more suited to iron sights.

There are takedown Savage Model 99 rifles in equivalent cartridges to the Thutty Thutty. And plenty of full bellies speak to their reliability.

Also any idea on mounting a long eye relief scope as well? Looks like the Alaskan Copilot is drilled and taped. Doing this seems a little scary, as I dont think a Win. barrel is that thick to begin with...

anyone?

so..what do you guys think about the Co pilot?

Has anyone heard about or held one? Is a strong rifle/design?

What about the .50 alaskan, for bear defense would I be better off with a 12 guage shotgun?

And what about their bushwacker series, those are restricted in Canada?
but boy do those little things look like fun:)

Thanks for any info you guys have.

Kevin

I played with a couple of these when I was working in Anchorage, they're pretty cool alright, particularly if you're a Marlin fan. The 50 Alaskan is a 348 Win case opned up and blown out to use .510 bullets, if memory serves, a pretty good stopper for North American big game. I prefer Win 86's and 71's, but the Wild West stuff is nicely done. - dan
